Job Summary
Works closely with Director of Marketing to manage operations as well as team members. This requires
strategic planning, budget review, project oversite of staff assigned to projects, and post-campaign
analytics. The Assistant Director of Marketing will be tasked with helping to develop marketing & public
relations objectives, strategies and tactics for assigned departments and service lines to drive growth for
the organization.

Director of Marketing

Job Specific Responsibilities
• In coordination with Director of Marketing and Vice President of Marketing, helps guide the overall
departmental strategy and initiatives related to service line marketing
• Supervises service line marketing specialists including frequent one-on-one meetings, employee
development and evaluation
• Ensures that marketing initiatives are tracked and measured by each marketing specialist for
monthly reporting
• Provides guidance for and/or resolves complex problems or conflicts
• Manages deadlines on all projects to make sure they are completed on time
• Runs weekly staff status meetings to go over all jobs in production
• Oversees the development and placement of external communications such as press releases,
interviews and initiatives related to promoting UMC Health System service lines and provides
monthly analytics through our PR software platform
• Performs other related duties as required

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or similar field preferable but not required
• + 5 years’ experience in marketing/advertising/public relations
• + 5 years of experience leading people and processes

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Solid project management, analytic and organizational skills
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data tracking and analysis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to identify problems and resourcefulness to resolve them independently with own
initiative
• Ability to interact effectively with staff members at all levels of the organization as well as
external partners
• Must be highly organized, patient, persistent and require minimal supervision in executing
assigned tasks

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
Daily interaction with other staff within the Marketing department. Frequent contact with other department
directors and upper-level management for presenting marketing campaigns and initiatives.

Physical Capabilities
Occasional lifting boxes up to 20lbs. will be required; however, it is possible that arrangements for help can be
made if applicant’s skills outweigh a lifting disability. The employee will frequently exert a small amount of force

to lift, carry, push, pull and move objects. The employee will sit at a computer and keyboard for long hours.
Some after-hours work will be required to meet some deadlines and perform special events functions.

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions, not
necessarily from temperature changes.
