The Senior Copywriter role is on the Copywriting team on Creative Services (CS), Church & Dwight (C&D)’s in-house creative agency, reporting to the Copywriting & Storytelling Manager. The Senior Copywriter will work closely with all cross-functional CS members, including the Manager of eCommerce, the Video Production and Graphic Design teams, CS Operations and Project Managers, the CS Branding/Storytelling team, and other CS copywriters to create powerful, well-considered content for ecomm, digital, video and print media that supports business goals. They will also collaborate closely with teams outside of CS including Brand Marketing, eComm Brand Managers, Digital Strategy Teams, external digital and creative agencies, contractors, and freelancers.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
· Conceptualize and write compelling copy for consumer-facing marketing activations that follow platform best practices, and effectively communicate brands’ and products' RTBs to drive sales and achieve business goals for a variety of C&D personal care brands. Including but not limited to:
· eCommerce content (e.g. PDP titles/bullets/descriptions; carousel tiles; e-retail store pages; banner ads; enhanced/A+ activations)
· Other digital content (e.g. promotional emails; social media ads, programmatic banners, MikMak; brand websites content)
· Video scripts for ecomm PDP videos; other digital platforms; corporate initiatives
· Print advertising and in-store signage
· Strategize and execute compelling messaging and content that helps support business goals, follows platform and media best practices, fits the customer audience(s), and is on-brand
· Work independently and efficiently to confirm the details needed and is delivered on time in clear, easy-to-read copy docs for efficient use by all relevant cross-functional team including graphic designers, video producers, project managers and clients
· Demonstrate strong creative judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to make strong content decisions that address client and internal feedback while maintaining high-quality effective content that is on-brand, helps achieve business goals, befits the asset medium and its target audience(s)
· Be familiar with multiple brands' creative guidelines, brand voices and personas, and legal/regulatory rules to create digital content that consistently communicates a brand’s story while also following platform best practices
· Be able to both work independently and collaborate with multi-functional teams on ecommerce, digital strategy, brand, copywriting, design, video, social, and external agencies
· Create content that communicates a unique but consistent voice for a variety of personal care and household brands—from household laundry, pet care and dental care; to DIY crafts and baking staples; to beauty and hair care; to vitamins, health & supplements; to sexual health and fertility, and more.
· Skillfully, efficiently, and tactfully review and provide feedback to others’ copy, video and design work, and be able to efficiently and objectively review and proofread your own
Skills & Competencies:
· Demonstrated creativity and excellent copywriting skills. A diverse portfolio of professional writing samples for a variety of relevant media and brands is a must.
· Attention to detail for updates, notes and direction related to a job request as well as attention to detail for grammar, typos, misspellings, and all things proofreading.
· Flexibility and adaptability to changes in a project’s direction, objectives and due dates
· Ability to receive constructive creative feedback and adjust content to reflect spoken and unspoken direction by team stakeholders
· Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to build productive, influential, and trustworthy working relationships with fellow creators, clients, partners and cross-functional team members.
· Demonstrated experience and ability to learn new technologies and digital platforms
· Strong understanding of the needs of multiple digital and ecomm platforms, and the ability to adapt your writing voice to fit any medium and audience.
· Effective under pressure and able to meet multiple tight deadlines.
· Energetic, optimistic, enthusiastic, strategic self-starter who’s comfortable adapting to changing situations and expectations.
· A creative person who’s always eager to go the extra mile, roll up their sleeves and get things done!
· Working proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs including Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
· 5+ years relevant experience developing brand-level copy and messaging for digital and ecomm platforms at an agency or within an internal creative team.
· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Advertising, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field and/or equivalent experience
· Relevant creative experience working with consumer goods, personal care, and household brands is a plus
· Outstanding writing skills. You’re an exceptional storyteller with a compelling portfolio of examples demonstrating how you have embodied and built strong brands through content and copy.
