When international air cargo touches down in Australia, Jets Transport is there to get it the rest of the way to its destination. Our interstate trucking services cover the domestic legs of international airfreight operations, driving between all the major cities from our hubs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. As the Manager Jets Transport, you will lead the strategic design and delivery to ensure that Jets Transport achieves profitability targets, and competitive advantage that is aligned to the Qantas Freight Business Strategy. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations which include the provision of a safe and compliant workforce, customer engagement, financial performance and infrastructure (IT platforms, payroll and finance) of Jets Transport.  

 

You will also be responsible for the commercial strategy, design and continuous improvement of current processes through challenging existing business practices to ensure we meet business efficiency and sustainability targets and retain competitive advantage. 

 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Demonstrated people leadership skills experience within large teams. This includes performance management, coaching, mentoring and development of staff within an operational environment 

  • Commercially focused with the ability to correctly assess the impact of decisions on business outcomes 

  • Proven record of successfully managing change and implementing strategic and continuous improvement activities  

  • Experience with industrial workforces and leading union dialogue 

  • Experience in business change and transformation  

  • Demonstrated commitment to OHS&E principles in the workplace 

  • Ability to engage and influence people through communication and leadership skills 

  • Concise understanding of all aspects of operational, safety, security and emergency procedures as applicable in Ground Operations 

  • Broad understanding across all aspects of a trucking business, with specific experience in operations, compliance, service and product. 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and gain support for strategic goals
