Job Description

Why Harris Williams

We are ambitious in our goals and steadfast in the belief that clients deserve our very best. We invest in world-class, team-oriented individuals who are smart, driven, and principled – those who are eager to be part of something bigger than themselves. When you join Harris Williams, you are welcomed into a collegial environment where every individual has the opportunity to make an impact.

  • Meaningful impact from the start: The Accounting Specialist provides support to ensure the success of the firm's financial functions. This position regularly interfaces with employees in all offices, as well as with client personnel, and therefore must represent the firm well in all interactions.

  • Collaborative work environment: Our goal is to unlock value in great businesses, and it starts by unlocking greatness in each other. We value a range of backgrounds and expertise, and we know our work is better when our teams inspire every individual to confidently contribute. You will provide input to the Accounting Manager, collaborate with all levels of the Finance team and broader Firm. As part of the finance team, you will assist with month-end closing procedures and finance projects and research, as needed.

  • Comprehensive compensation and benefits program: Competitive compensation, pension, 401(k) matching, and eligibility for performance bonus amongst many other robust benefits.

What We Look For

Harris Williams hires individuals who are motivated by challenge, demonstrated through applicable prior work experience. The following skillsets are desired:

  • Diverse responsibilities: You will operate as the center of communication for the accounting team; coordinating invoice preparation with internal banker teams, monitoring revenue pipeline, and communicating with senior client personnel. You will approve expense reports, AP requisitions and invoices to ensure compliance with Firm's policies. In this role you will be responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts, managing vendor correspondence and reconciling financial discrepancies by analyzing account information.

  • Professional development: We care about your training and development. New employees will participate in role specific training designed to set you up for success. Over time, you may contribute to special projects to streamline and improve current processes or adapt to changing policies.

  • Engaging culture: We believe talent is our greatest asset. Our people exemplify a team over individual culture, and participate in team-building events, both regional and companywide. In this role you will be a champion of HW’s “one firm” mentality. In a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities, willingness to pitch in to assist others is essential.

  • Intellectual Curiosity – Willingness to build knowledge across the Finance team, the Harris Williams business and our parent company, PNC
