 Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Accounting Manager (Research and Engineering (R&E) to join our COE-Accountable Reporting.

The incumbent would be in a operations role, so requires in depth & hands on knowledge/involvement in all financial activities (accounting, reporting & analysis) in all transitions, not just oversight.

This is an exciting opportunity supporting Caterpillar's Integrated Components & Solutions (ICS) Division (that provides trusted engineering, research, validation, and manufacturing services to internal clients, as well as provides technology leadership to the enterprise).  

 The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India

 What you will do

Job Roles and Responsibilities

Research and Engineering (R&E) Accounting, Reporting & Analysis

Job Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams (business resources, IT, engineers, data providers) to define, develop and implement solutions which satisfy both ICS and business requirements /expectations
  • Enterprise coordination of R&E system processes in support of monthly closing, quarterly forecasting & annual budgeting cycles
  • Establishing and maintaining ICS’s client R&E affordability within the detailed Financial Reporting & Analysis tools
  • Developing, maintaining and communicating training materials, technical documentation, standards and procedures
  • Keeping up to date on new tools & technologies, evaluating or developing new ideas which lead to incremental efficiency improvements or improved accuracy
  • Lead management & agency personnel who perform accounting functions of varying complexity including working with selected financial systems, interpreting and adhering to Caterpillar's accounting practices and procedures

Team management:

  • Managing and supporting a team of empowered financial analysts ensuring successful migration of specified roles into the COE
  • Actively partnering with the financial analysts and stakeholders for tasks related to the transition of the projects in line with scope of work, timelines and business requirements
  • Ensuring standard transition methodology and documentation is followed for all the transitions
  • Managing relationship with the global stakeholders through timely connects and stepping up to resolve issues and escalations for all activities
  • Working with the financial analysts on business continuity plan for all activities
  • Monitoring and reporting on transition progress and operations updates to the COE Manager
  • Prepare presentations and defined metrics/KPIs for distribution with different leadership groups
  • Prioritizing projects, assigning and reviewing work, and controlling the team’s daily operating environment
  • Evaluating and reporting on staff performance, participating in employee selection, providing career guidance and training direction and promoting team rewards and successes

What you will have 

  • Proven experience in R&E expense management, financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, intercompany and month end processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data, trends and patterns
  • Excellent customer service skills working in a global environment with multiple stakeholders to drive outcomes
  • Self-starter, works well independently and in a team, with excellent communication skills
  • Showcased leadership skills, good judgement, and accountability in prior roles
  • Experience in process transitions and transformations in a virtual environment
  • Work within a constantly evolving COE structure displaying outstanding organisational and multitasking skills
  • CA, CMA, MBA with 15+ years of progressive experience
