Staff Accountant I - Corporate Accounting

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant I will play a crucial role in supporting the corporate accounting team by handling various accounting functions with accuracy and efficiency. This role involves processing payables, preparing journal entries, and performing reconciliations, among other essential accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while adhering to deadlines. This is an hourly position with responsibilities spanning various aspects of corporate accounting. The Staff Accountant I will work closely with other team members and departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Education/Certificates

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting or finance role

  • Experience in real estate or public accounting is a plus

  • CPA designation is a plus

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word

Essential Duties

  • Process accounts payable transactions including checks, wires, and other disbursement requests, and manage recurring accounts payable functions.

  • Review and process employee expense reports in Concur, prepare intercompany billings, and post cash receipts.

  • Prepare accounts receivable reports, follow up on collections, handle construction draw billings and cash receipts, and conduct bank reconciliations.

  • Prepare and enter journal entries, manage month-end accounts payable accruals, and perform financial statement flux analysis workpapers.

  • Assist with monthly close activities, interim and year-end audits, and special projects as needed.

  • Efficiently code, input, and process payables, prepare general ledger journal entries, maintain records, and reconcile amounts.

  • Research and interpret accounting data to address financial questions and provide insights.

  • Prepare monthly accruals and amortization entries, review general ledger for unusual items, and reconcile bank accounts.

  • Assist in preparing GAAP basis consolidated financial statements, including data analysis from the general ledger and other departments.

  • Prepare supporting schedules and financial analytics for monthly and quarterly financial packages.

  • Support the annual audit process and contribute to the issuance of audited financial statements.

  • Completes company required training by established deadline.

  • Complies with all Fairfield standards, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state and federal laws.

  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned.

Estimated Rate of Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00

This position is non-exempt; the range above reflects hourly rates.

The pay range displayed for this position is determined by skills and experience required, location and job complexity*. Potential job offers may vary based on the skills, education, and experience an individual candidate holds. This range reflects base rate only, and does not include allowances, perks, commissions or bonuses applicable to this position (if any).
