Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Hourly Project Assistant II will provide support toward the implementation of the NYS WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) Program’s live chat pilot project. A live chat function will be embedded into the existing WIC virtual assistant, Wanda, to offer additional support to consumers who are interested in the WIC Program. The incumbent will:

  • Assist to provide direct virtual support to users of the live chat platform including basic program information and electronic referrals to local WIC offices

  • Participate in team meetings with internal and external stakeholders

  • Identify, document, and share technical barriers and challenges to using the live chat platform

  • Perform other appropriate related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate or graduate student in public health, human services, social work, psychology, nutrition, early childhood development and family studies, or related field.


Preferred Qualifications

A fundamental understanding of the WIC program, other food assistance program, or maternal and child health issues. Demonstrated, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Customer service experience, especially in a setting with diverse clientele.

Conditions of Employment
Grant funded, hourly position expected to last through 12/13/2024. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.


Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.

Travel, up to 10%, will be required.
