Join us as an Advisory Portfolio Manager
- This key role will see you providing quality investment management advice to our existing clients, building effective and valued relationships with them, as well as winning new client relationships
- You'll work closely with HNW and UHNW clients in managing their portfolios, generating investment ideas supported by the Coutts research engine and presenting those ideas to your clients
- You'll be responsible for the trade implementation of transactions in the portfolios you manage and you'll support our wealth managers in the sale of discretionary and advisory investment services and products
- You’ll work from home some of the time, but you’ll also spend at least two days a week working from the office
What you'll do
As an Advisory Portfolio Manager, you’ll be representing Coutts' investment house view to a book of core investment clients, as well as prospective investment clients. You’ll support the Coutts Advisory Portfolio Service and manage and grow a book of criteria level, high net worth advisory clients.
You'll maintain all aspects of on-going client servicing in line with our client right adviser principles. This will involve day to day investment management, monitoring portfolios, an using internal and external inputs to generate investment ideas for discussion with clients before sharing those ideas across the team.
As well as this your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring intelligent risk management is utilised
- Managing investment relationships with your clients as well as with Coutts coverage teams
- Presenting the Coutts investment house view and strategy at internal and external client events and implementing agreed trades
- Safely and effectively delivering client investment proposals, fully incorporating any client imposed investment restrictions in line with relevant policies
- Overseeing the delivery of any tactical business initiatives with a view to both improving client outcomes and expediting the delivery of assigned business objectives
- Providing guidance to the coverage teams and ongoing monitoring of investment portfolios, ensuring compliance with client objectives, risk profiles and internal controls
The skills you'll need
To succeed in this role, you’ll need market leading knowledge of discretionary portfolio management techniques, paired with experience of engaging with credit function and banker communities locally and private clients at various levels of investment sophistication in a large organisation. You'll also be qualified to RDR Level 6.
In addition, you’ll demonstrate:
- Experience in the provision of investment advice to HNW and UHNW clients
- Knowledge of financial markets, including the key drivers for changes in price volatility, investment products and collateral analysis
- Knowledge of the relevant policies, regulatory obligations and risk management of investment backed lending products
- Knowledge of, and experience working with different types of routes to market and asset classes including direct stocks and bonds, funds, ETFs, and alternatives
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
