We are recruiting for a Senior Operations Manager to join our Tactical Operations team on a permanent basis! Reporting to the Deputy-Head of Tactical Operations, you’ll be one of a team of senior shift managers responsible for Water and Water Recycling functions. You’lloperate on a rotating 24-hour shift basis leading a shift team of Operational Control Managers (OCM) and Operational Restoration Technicians (ORT), providing the business with operational knowledge, experience and strong decision-making capabilities.  

 

This key role is responsible for overseeing all operational events, ensuring safety and compliance, whilst proactively mitigating against any adverse impact on our customers, assets and operational performance. You’ll liaise with other business wide senior stakeholders to develop an accurate situational understanding of operational events, providing clear and accurate operational decision making and incident management direction at all times.  

 

As our new Senior Operations Manager, you’ll proactively lead, coach and continually enable a team of technical experts who monitor operational systems to help make informed decisions around identifying, managing, mitigating and escalating risk. You’ll make decisions to support the optimisation of asset performance and help deliver great service to our customers, whilst engaging in workload and resource management. You’ll act as an escalation point for all operational events, taking control of those that present a heightened business risk.

What does it take to be a Senior Operations Manager?  

  • Proven leadership skills   

  • Proven ability to identify, quantify and manage risk 

  • Able to demonstrate extensive specialist, operational water industry knowledge and skills  

  • Able to demonstrate a good knowledge and excellent communication of Business goals and priorities  

  • Relevant operational experience in an operational management role  

  • Strong and proven performance management skills  

  • Regulatory knowledge or proven experience  

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, including the ability to present complex information for a non-specialist audience  

  • Strong communicator with all levels  

  • Strong organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills  

  • High degree of flexibility to cover operational events  

  • Able to think strategically
