Global Procurement is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies and effective processes to assure supply and achieve best value. It includes category and commodity management strategies with goals of achieving cost reductions, optimizing value and vendor service levels, improving product quality while guaranteeing material and satisfactory service levels in a global hyper-growth company.
 

Position Overview:


The Senior Director of Indirect Procurement leads a team of category managers and strategic sourcing activities for indirect spend, with an emphasis on managing suppliers of professional services, information technology, telecommunications, contingent labor, HR related services, benefits, facilities, utilities, marketing/advertising, capital equipment, outside services, travel, entertainment, and MRO. The total addressable spend is ~$400M across Insulet’s global enterprise.

This position requires the experience to lead, develop, implement, and manage best-in-class procurement processes, capabilities, internal spend-management procedures and KPI’s to effectively scale in a global hyper-growth environment.

This position will develop and lead a team of category managers that will partner with stakeholders globally in Finance, Logistics, Marketing, IT, R&D, Facilities and Supply Chain. The Sr. Director, Indirect Procurement will lead the team in efforts to build relationships with client to become trusted advisors focused on value creation.  The Sr. Director will set a vision to enable the team to engage early in the sourcing process and align with functional leaders to develop and execute sourcing strategies that achieve business objectives. The successful candidate will develop a highly responsive team that maintains relationships with suppliers, execute contracts, achieve pricing agreements, and serve as the focal point for supplier performance management.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify, negotiate and implement indirect procurement initiatives and optimize value.
  • Utilize spend analytics to identify the highest impact sourcing projects.
  • Collaborate with our legal, IT, Quality and Global Business Services team to develop and manage a streamlined and effective global supplier on-boarding process.
  • Guide functional groups in discovery, contract negotiation, optimizing economic value, improved product & service levels, cost management & reduction, supplier & partner risk mitigation, and scope of work development.
  • Manage performance against contract terms and recommend courses of action to rectify discrepancies.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce effective end-to-end spend management procedures and controls measure process effectiveness through KPI’s.
  • Partner with cross-functional business leaders to jointly identify cost reduction pipelines.
  • Develop and implement a formal supplier performance management process.
  • Establish should-cost modeling capabilities for key elements of indirect spend.
  • Develop e-sourcing solutions to reduce cycle-time, narrow the supplier base, drive cost reduction, and create an ease of doing business.
  • Lead contract negotiations with strategic suppliers.
  • Lead the cross functional team that engages with suppliers on issues and continuous improvement.
  • Remain current with market trends through relationships with vendors and market experts, and advise the business on areas of innovation, technology enablement and continuous improvement.
  • Build a best-in-class procurement organization and work will all team members to establish and manage their individual development plans.

Required Leadership/Interpersonal Skills & Behaviors

  • Demonstrated success in creating and implementing sourcing strategies that have yielded measurable business results.
  • Experience managing the entire RFQ, RFP process, and negotiating and managing large, complex contracts in corporate environment.

  • Future-focused and flexible negotiator, with the experience to see the wholistic picture clearly from both sides and select the approach best suited to the situation at hand.

Education and Experience
 

• 15+ years of indirect procurement experience, at least 7+ of which were in a management position
• Bachelor’s degree Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, or Business Administration.
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related discipline.

Additional Information

  • This role is hybrid and based in Acton.
  • Travel is estimated at 10% but will flex depending on business needs.

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,300.00 - $275,400.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
