Position Overview:

This role will support the growth of Navico Group’s high-end Sonar product innovation objectives.  Reporting into the Product Director, you will be responsible for aligning the Sonar product delivery, vision and roadmap in line with Navico Group’s purpose, mission and strategic plan for the Lowrance, Simrad, and B&G brands. You will be responsible for driving product strategy, product & market requirements, pricing and margin, competitive positioning, and lifecycle management for the sonar product category. This position requires close interaction with R&D, Marketing, Service, Sales, and Customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for our sonar products, aligning with market trends and company goals

  • Have a deep understanding of our users, their challenges, and how our product delivers value and satisfaction.

  • Prepare and present business case analyses for new product and opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and launch new sonar products

  • Work closely with engineers, sales, marketing and customer support teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing field issue support and resolution

  • Launch products successfully across all regions: recommend channel pricing to maximize product line profitability; drive all necessary activities and communication; ensure best in class product content, including new product documentation, manuals, packaging, training, and other marketing and support documentation.

  • Lead and mentor direct Product Manager & Product Expert reports as assigned.

  • Manage and coordinate the lifecycle management of product with new introductions, and the end of life of products, across all relevant regions.

  • Support the Product Directors with coordinating amongst the key brand and product stakeholders that have dependencies on Sonar to ensure overall Navico Group portfolio growth through strategic use of R&D resources.

  • Interface with R&D management to promote the selection of new technologies that will address existing and new customer requirements better than our competitors while minimizing cost and risk.

  • Track product performance, gather user feedback, and implement enhancements to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain competitive analysis for relevant product segments and technologies, including competitive benchmarking.

  • Prepare and Present training documentation for internal and external stakeholders as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in product management, sales, marketing or engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing or business administration.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven track record in defining product, launching to market, as well as building, prioritizing and maintaining product roadmaps (against a consistent organizational strategy).

  • Experience in defining, measuring and analyzing market opportunities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & Other applicable applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Power BI, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated passion for the marine & fishing industry

  • Experience managing cost parameters, business planning and ROI assessments around product investment.

  • Experience working with hardware/software development teams on commercial/revenue products is beneficial.

  • A strong technical background (works with R&D, SW and electronic engineering) with innovative electronic products.

Working Conditions:

  • <20% travel to support shows, events, trainings, inter-company collaboration, customer meetings via plane, trains, and automobiles both domestic and international.

  • General office environment.

  • Ability to operate a computer.

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to visit customer’s locations, including offices, distributions facilities, manufacturing facilities, marinas, etc.

  • Physical ability to work on or around marine vessels may be required.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to work at various heights.
