Job Description Summary:

PayPal is seeking to recruit a Director to lead Agency relations and partner management. This role is responsible for developing and leading the strategy and operating models for agency investment across all business units as part of the Business Operations team of the Consumer Group and Global Marketing & Communications organization. You will be responsible for managing the investment and talent acquisition for more than $300M in agency relationships across 20+ agencies in all sectors including: Traditional, Digital, Content Marketing, SEO/SEM, PR, HR Recruiting, Experiential Marketing, Sponsorship, Cross Cultural and partnering with in-house creative and marketing teams. The role demands strong collaboration across Finance, Sourcing, Legal, and Risk, along with BU Marketing & Communications teams to negotiate the most effective terms for PayPal and its companies, the best talent from partners/agencies and to deliver effective agency scopes aligned tightly with business targets. Responsibility for all agency assessments, approvals and swim lane definition as part of the role to ensure we properly align the best talent with the work/desired business goals while ensuring no duplication.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Build/lead the partner relations and agency management practice to oversee the partner/agency investment for PayPal.
  • Continuously identify, assess, screen and onboard all agency talent for PayPal.
  • Build and lead the annual agency planning process/agency summit to build both project based and annual retainer-based agency relationship for the following year and manage adjustments throughout the year.
  • Build and manage relationships with agency senior leadership to drive issue resolution, decision making, diversity & inclusion, and other initiatives..
  • Defining and managing agency engagement and policy.
  • Manage ongoing agency resource needs throughout the year to define pricing/scopes of work for all emerging client needs/competitive responses.
  • Develop and drive agency efficiency metrics and dashboards to optimize ROI on agency performance
  • Implement and drive an agency management performance program and lead agency/client performance assessment process and associated process improvements
  • Design, oversee and lead processes for briefing, creative reviews and other agency activities.
  • Assess and design agency compensation models and agency performance agreements to drive continuous performance improvement, business results and healthy agency relationships.  
  • Participate in budget management processes for all global agency spend including the tracking and reporting of fees, paid media and production.  Work closely with Media and Marketing Effectiveness teams to ensure proper ratios and investment strategies for paid media aligned with staffing.
  • Provide comprehensive reporting and analytics for visibility across agency work and spend
  • Negotiate all business terms for agency agreements in partnership with Sourcing, Legal, and Risk teams.
  • Participate and lead industry issues including diversity & inclusion and other initiatives with industry organizations (ANA)

Experience:

  • 10+ years agency operations experience on either client and/or agency side, both preferred
  • MBA preferred, but not required
  • Designed agency related policies, process improvements and operation efficiency measures.
  • Marketing communication experience on client side (briefing agencies, delivering creative feedback) (preferred)
  • Led team of managers including setting performance goals and developmental plans to elevate team value/performance results
  • Managed multiple agency types and agency pitches.
  • Experience securing agency talent, building agency staffing plans and standardizing agency related process.
  • Industry benchmarking and trend analysis
  • Migration of work from external agencies to internal in-house agency and vice-versa (preferred)
  • Experience working with Data and Analytics to drive better decision making
