This role is part of the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin’s design, manufacturing, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health, and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes. 

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will inspect development and flight vehicle builds for various spaceflight systems. Your contribution to the team will have a direct bearing on all elements of providing accurate Inspection on critical high value parts and assemblies to resolve configuration per engineering designs. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the manufacturing and launch of New Glenn hardware.

Positions available for First shift (07:00 AM - 03:30 PM M-F)

Second Shift (04:00 PM - 12:30 AM M-F)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed inspection of New Glenn vehicle structural, electrical and mechanical assemblies and systems using CAD models and Blueprints.

  • Verify Assemblies for conformance against engineering requirements.

  • Document nonconformance's in accordance with internal procedures and over communicate to resolve quality issues.

  • Experience with Precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.

  • Experience with final photo documentation of hardware.

  • Perform close out, first article, in-process & final inspections.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

  • 5+ years of inspection experience in an aerospace, military or manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency working with nonconformance systems.

  • Competence in Blueprint reading skills and 3D model.

  • Experience with performing electronic and mechanical testing and inspections using portable measuring devices.

  • Proficient in inspecting tight tolerance, high value flight vehicles and systems.

  • Familiar with the use of personal computers.

  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed.

  • Ease with climbing ladders, stooping, bending, crawling, and mobility while working within tight spaces.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Airframe & Power-plant certificate (A&P) or ASQ CQA.

  • Experience working with aerospace propulsion assembly installation and testing processes and procedures.

  • Practical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001).

  • Strong understanding of safety programs and OSHA regulations and requirements.
