Dow Jones is looking for an Employee Relations Manager to join our team. This newly created role will be responsible for managing the company relationship with our Works Councils in Spain, France, and Germany, as well as fostering a positive employee relations environment across all EMEA office locations, with a primary focus in Spain. . This role will develop, implement, and maintain effective labor relation strategies and processes across the EMEA region in coordination with European HR Business Partners, as well as the global Employee Relations and Legal teams.
As a manager, you’re striving to accomplish the goals of building out a global employee & labor relations center of excellence within the People team. You are unafraid of trying new things and pivoting with an evolving organization. You are comfortable working within ambiguity as you will be handling issues that do not always have a process or a system in place. You will take the initiative to build these procedures and efficiencies under the direction of the VP, EMEA/APAC People Lead and VP, Employee & Labor Relations.
Spain Works' Councils:
You will, together with the EMEA GM, lead Spanish Works Council relations, serve as primary point of contact for Works Council matters, representing the company on all human resources matters .
Collaborate with works council representatives to address and resolve employee concerns
Identify, propose, and implement process improvements and rules of engagement.
You will help develop a partnership strategy for the Spanish Works Council in collaboration with HR and business stakeholders.
You will ensure that HR colleagues are knowledgeable on Works Council and Employee Relations compliance through training, meetings and processes.
Other EMEA Works’ Councils:
You will work with VP, Global Employee Relations, Legal and HRBPs teams in restructuring processes to propose and represent EU Works Council strategy
You will support the implementation of EU regulations and related actions.
You will act as an international ambassador with a strategic mindset for transforming the employee & labor relations experience, being the voice of specific countries and regions within the People team
Employee Relations:
Manage and address employee concerns, grievances and disputes in a fair and consistent matter, partnering with Legal and HR Partners
Conduct in-depth confidential investigations on policy violations and employee relations matters, maintaining detailed and accurate accounts with memorialization of notes and supporting documents
Consult and coach HR Partners, Managers and Employees on policy interpretation, and provide guidance to prevent and/or address conflict resolution.
Coach and advise HR Partners and managers on complex and non-routine performance management matters including employee coaching, performance improvement plans, corrective actions, employment terminations, and ways to minimize the risk of adverse action.
You will liaise with legal for advice and responses to complex cases. Work with legal counsel in gathering information and investigate and respond to external employment legal claims directly or indirectly.
Develop and deliver HR Partners training on employee relations-related skills such as dispute resolution techniques.
Assist with the development of Management training programs, such as Performance Management, Employee Awareness and Supervisory Skills, as well as delivering such training to employee populations.
Analyze employee relations data to identify trends and partner with stakeholders for addressing any identified macro needs within the organization
7+ years experience including relevant human resources experience (employee relations, performance management, compliance, and labor relations)
Project and process management skills with a demonstrated track record of delivering results
Ability to position yourself as credible, proactive, (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought partner acting always with integrity and excellent judgment (builds relationships, delivers results)
Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information
Demonstrated experience balancing company priorities with employee advocacy
Ensured compliance enforcement through policy and procedure development
Expertise working and collaborating with a global HR team
Knowledge of current employment/labor laws (Spain, EU and other European countries a plus)
Ability to use data and analytics to develop recommendations and actions
Experience managing and resolving issues/negotiations
Experience working with Collective Bargaining Agreements
