Job Summary: The Sacramento Kings Business Communications team drives the storytelling and media strategy for the organization's corporate initiatives, community impact programs, and entertainment ventures - handling all communications outside of basketball and team operations. As a vital member of this team, the Public Relations (PR) Coordinator will help shape and amplify stories about the Kings business innovation, technology leadership, community investments, and entertainment experiences. This role focuses on corporate initiatives, developing press materials, managing media relationships, coordinating business announcements, and executing strategic communications that showcase the Kings impact as a transformative force in Sacramento's business and entertainment landscape.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Assists in writing and disseminating press releases, media advisories, notes, and other media material related to the Kings' corporate initiatives, business operations, and non-basketball activities as directed by the Vice President of Public Relations and Communications.
- Responds to internal and external requests for business-related information as directed by the supervisor.
- Leads in the drafting of a monthly corporate newsletter for internal audiences.
- Builds and maintains current media lists focusing on business, technology, entertainment, and community development reporters.
- Compiles clips of all corporate media coverage and creates media coverage reports for various business departments as instructed.
- Assists in coordinating corporate media events including scheduling, preparing timelines, drafting business leadership talking points and other tasks as needed.
- Assists in tracking upcoming corporate projects, business deadlines, company awards, and organizational milestones.
- Performs clerical duties (i.e., collecting phone messages, scheduling appointments, running errands, organizing email inboxes, creating purchase orders, and managing mail etc.).
- Other various duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of corporate communications or public relations experience preferred, with focus on business-to-business and corporate storytelling.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred.
- Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends during major corporate events and announcements.
- Strong business writing skills with ability to craft compelling corporate narratives.
- Experience in developing executive communications and corporate messaging preferred.
- Proactive self-starter who understands corporate communications priorities and can anticipate departmental needs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, social media management, and media monitoring tools. Experience with corporate communications platforms a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact professionally with executives, corporate partners, and business media.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple corporate priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced business environment.
- Experience in translating complex business initiatives into clear, engaging communications for various stakeholders.
- Highest level of discretion in handling sensitive corporate information and confidential business matters.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time, non-exempt role is $40,000 - $45,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
