Job Description Summary:

Manages the administration of OhioHealth’s health, welfare, and wellness programs as well as assists in their strategy development, policy, and framework. May lead special benefits projects and initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Field of Study:  Business Administration, Finance or related.
  • Years of experience:  5 to 10

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Field of Study: Business Administration for HR or Finance or related field from an accredited college or university; and between 5 and 10 years of experience in health, welfare, and wellness benefits program administration.
  • Knowledge of ERISA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, HIPAA and other laws and regulations relating to employee benefits, compensation, and employment issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Monitor competitiveness of benefits within peer group, industry, and employee satisfaction through participation in surveys, evaluating industry trends, reviewing experience data and utilization reports. Identify gaps and options for benefit changes.
  • Analyze the cost and effectiveness of health, welfare and wellness benefits programs and vendor contracts on an ongoing basis with recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the health, welfare and wellness benefits programs, administration, and service delivery.
  • Respond to ad-hoc health, welfare and wellness benefit queries and escalations from HR and leadership.
  • Supports annual benefits analysis and renewal processes. Develop recommendations and presentations for executive review supported with data analysis.
  • Manages all annual open enrollment processes and workstreams including any plan/vendor modifications, contracting and communications.
  • Provides support in due diligence and transition activities for health, welfare and wellness benefits-related activities associated with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Ensures legal compliance requirements are met for testing and disclosure, IRS tax filings and reporting requirements for the health, welfare, and wellness plans. Monitors regulatory changes to ensure compliance with legislation affecting health, welfare, and wellness plans.
  • Manages the process for the preparation and delivery of Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary Benefit Descriptions, ACA forms and other associate facing documents, for accuracy and timely delivery. Works with vendors and legal team to update and maintain plan documents.
  • Partner with Finance and appropriate internal teams and external vendors to track spend, analyze trends, and ensure proper inputs for annual budgeting and long-range financial planning process.
  • Collaborate with other HR and other internal teams to ensure health, welfare and wellness programs and policies are aligned and consistent with other HR and internal programs, policies, and processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams and external vendors and consultants to support health, welfare, and wellness benefits programs and policies.
  • Acts as a liaison for the HR Business Partners and Centers of Excellence on health, welfare, and wellness benefit questions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of benefits specialists to ensure their professional growth and development.
  • May lead special benefits projects and initiatives.
