HR Business Partners perform a specialized type of HR work focused on HR consulting to the business including: HR consulting and coaching (e.g., working with business leaders to solve significant people and cultural issues, provides expertise in technical and regulatory aspects of employment including hiring, termination, performance management, rewards, etc.) Enabling change initiatives (e.g., supporting the talent aspects of organization structure changes, talent integration related to mergers & acquisitions, etc.) HR program advocacy (e.g., communicating the business value of HR initiatives, managing HR program roll out to minimize business disruption, etc.) Partnering with the business and talent management/staffing and recruiting colleagues on key talent initiatives (e.g., workforce planning, hi-potential employee development, succession planning, etc.)

This position partners with managers and associates to deliver core HR services. Ensures an optimal management of HR processes and associate experience, with a focus on people and culture.

The HR Business Partners is responsible for solving local organizational challenges through people-related solutions that support Alcon’s mission: “to help people see brilliantly”. Delivers annual people processes; has in-depth knowledge of local talent and provides coaching to managers to help them accelerate talent readiness. The HRBP brings a deep understanding of local business needs. Contributes HR point of view into business issues and supports diagnostic interventions to deliver local solutions.

Collaborates on a regular basis with HR COEs and HR Services on design and execution of solutions and service delivery to clients.  Implements strategic initiatives and other enterprise-wide initiatives and HR programs to support Alcon associates, including compensation, performance, employee relations and engagement, culture, and talent development initiatives.

In this role, a typical day will include:

In partnership with people leaders:

  • Aligns with the global and regional HR teams to execute enterprise level initiatives.
  • Delivers Alcon’s core HR services and people processes (e.g. succession talent mapping, performance management) and ensures an optimal associate experience
  • Drives business success by coaching and advising teams on associate experience initiatives, such as Associate Experience Dashboard, Recognition programs, etc.
  • Ensures timely execution of all people-related processes​
  • Implements global, regional or local HR programs
  • Coaches business leaders and associates on all HR-related topics (e.g. change management, talent management, employee relations, career development, etc.)
  • Accountable for driving high-quality, diverse local talent bench, through selection process, equitable compensation practices and adequate talent development
  • Support diagnostic intervention and problem resolution strategies to contribute HR point of view to business issues​
  • Utilize workforce analytics and insights to improve people and workforce management.

 Knowledge and Skills:

  • Business Insights - Ability to understand business drivers and how organizational strategy relates to human capital strategy.
  • Persuades – Can coach and influence people leaders and teams, using data, trends (internal & external) and perspectives to drive alignment, ownership and improved decision making and actions needed to move the business, people strategies or personal performance forward.
  • Decision Quality - Ability to identify and leverage data to make informed human capital decisions as well as influence the business. Relies on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement when making decisions. Considers all relevant factors and uses appropriate decision-making criteria and principles.
  • Collaborates – Actively participates in and supports a collaborative team environment. Role model for Alcon V&Bs.
  • Plans and Aligns – Effectively manage multiple projects/cases with competing priorities and changing expectations. Sets objectives to align with broader organizational goals. Stages activities with relevant milestones and schedules.
  • Communicates Effectively - Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills with ability to express thoughts in a clear and concise manner. Attentively listen to others.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of years and education of directly related experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, Business, HRBP, L&D, HR Generalist or related field.
  • experience working in matrix organizations.
  • Willingness to work intercultural and in very dynamic organizations.
  • High communication style especially on executive level.
  • Experience in supporting Shared Services Centers or similar business environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders.
  • Fluent English and Spanish
