Senior ER Manager and Team Lead, UK & Ireland

As Senior Employee Relations Manager (ERM) & Team Lead, ER you will be responsible for the delivery of the ER service in the aligned cluster and will also support ER activity across other countries, as required. You will also be accountable for managing end to end HR investigations, stakeholder management and providing insights to the business on ER trends and recommended interventions.

In conjunction with the aligned Regional ER Lead, you will support the creation and implementation of the cluster ER strategy. You will also have the opportunity to design, and project manage Regional and Global ER projects, as well as managing complex ER cases and escalations across jurisdiction. In your role as Sr. ERM & Team Lead, ER you will need to use your judgement and perspective to ensure we are delivering the best ER solution, with a focus on informal resolution where appropriate. You will have excellent project management, leadership, communication, influencing and relationship building skills. You will also solve complex ER issues and share your insights with the business and embedded HR teams to ensure a pro-active approach to ER.

In this role you will

  • Directly Manage complex local and regional ER cases which involve internal and external legal, multiple stakeholders and local ER processes to deliver ER outcomes in line with GSK values and expectations. This includes investigations and end-to-end management of complex HR and Employee Relations issues, including, but not limited to grievances and consequence management processes, where required.
  • Leadership and management of the aligned ER team ensuring ongoing development and talent management including coaching of ER team members in relation to ER case strategy and innovative approaches to problem solving. This includes supporting ER team members in other regions /clusters, to identify the best course of action, identify and mitigate risks and manage escalations, as required.
  • Be seen as an expert in ER matters across the cluster/country & provide training and guidance to ensure consistent implementation of ER process, while identifying root causes where ER KPI’s are not met and developing action plans to address.
  • Providing insights to the business based on ER trends, recommending interventions taking a governance approach to ensure actions are delivered to prevent further ER risks, through suitable CAPAs in place where identified for the cluster.
  • Developing collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across cluster/country e.g. HR Country Heads and HRBLs through advice and pro-active stakeholder management.
  • Consult and collaborate with Community of Practice, partners & Legal teams on complex employee investigations, including supporting the local employment law team with the employment tribunal/litigation cases where required.
  • Deputise, if and where required, for the Regional ER Lead including RMCB’s and other local and regional meetings as required, using your experience and knowledge to lead and drive the agenda

  • Degree in employee relations, industrial relations, human resources, law, business, or any other relevant function
  • A robust and proven background in ER and/or IR, where applicable, in multiple industries and/or markets
  • Experience in delivery of complex project management in a matrix structure, involving multiple stakeholders at pace.
  • Innovative thinking to drive changes and process improvements
  • Ability to work in a complex, matrix and multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills, business acumen, and ability to analyse trends of ER data.
  • Good Communication skills essential.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • Experience and understanding in HR practices and policies, multi-country jurisdiction is advantageous.
  • Additional qualifications in ER/HR
