Core One is seeking a Director of Growth to join our Strategic Services Business Unit. The Director of Growth will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing business opportunities with national security customers. The role focuses on expanding the company’s portfolio, developing strategic partnerships, and driving on-program and new revenue growth through contracts and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of customer technical requirements, solution development and architecture, procurement processes, compliance requirements, and experience in building relationships with end-users.


Responsibilities:

Business Development and Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans to increase government contracting opportunities.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with government agencies and related entities.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of opportunities that align with company capabilities and strategic goals.

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Develop comprehensive technical architectures for complex solutions that align with business needs and technical requirements.
  • Design system architectures that are scalable, secure, and cost-effective, leveraging industry standards and modern technologies.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technology stacks, frameworks, and platforms to meet project objectives.
  • Ensure architectural integrity and consistency across systems and platforms, aligning with the organization’s technical vision.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering to implementation and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, DevOps, QA, and project managers, to ensure the successful delivery of solutions.
  • Lead architecture reviews and provide recommendations to ensure optimal performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Oversee the integration of systems, including legacy systems, third-party services, and cloud-based infrastructure.

Contract Expertise

  • Stay updated on federal procurement processes, trends, and regulatory requirements, including SBIRs and OTAs.
  • Monitor government requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for information (RFIs), and other opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and negotiation of proposals and pricing, ensuring compliance with all requirements.

Customer Relationship Building

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers, decision-makers, contracting officers, and program managers.
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within government agencies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, programs, and operations, to ensure alignment with overall business unit objectives.
  • Develop partnerships with subcontractors, vendors, and other organizations for teaming opportunities.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the growth team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
  • Work closely with other parts of the business unit and company (e.g., executives, corporate growth team, program managers, engineering, operations) to ensure smooth contract execution and program delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development.
  • Proven track record of securing multi-million-dollar government contracts.
  • In-depth understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and other procurement guidelines.
  • Ability to directly lead customer engagement with key customer seniors and contracting/acquisition officials, and experience developing quality presentation materials to support customer engagements.
  • Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for upgrade to SCI access.
  • Experience with national security customers.
  • Excellent networking, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing winning proposals.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Location/Travel:

  • Based in Washington DC area, with some travel as required for business development meetings, conferences, and program delivery.
