Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic operations leader to oversee the Data Platform Engineering and Architecture portfolio within our Data Office. This role involves directing and implementing financial and operational strategies, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with customer data service standards. The successful candidate will lead data platform engineering portfolio projects, enhance program efficiencies, and foster strong vendor relationships. Acting as the voice of the customer, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize the efficiency and reliability of our data platform through process automation. You will champion proactive improvements in engineering processes and provide leadership across multiple functional areas. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies within your functional areas, with potential oversight of budget management and chief of staff responsibilities.

Job Description

This Director will operate somewhat as a Chief of Staff to the Vice President of Data Platform Engineering, working as their operational guide and coordinating between the five pillars/programs within the team. We are looking for someone with a solid finance background who can make sure CapEx and OpEx are aligned and forecasts are accurate. You will also run cadences with vendors, confirming timelines and priorities.

This role is open in Englewood, CO, Philadelphia (Comcast Technology Center), and West Chester, PA. It is not approved for virtual hire.

Core Responsibilities

  • Drive the execution of strategic projects by coordinating efforts across teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery.

  • Foster strong communication and collaboration between platform engineering, enterprise business intelligence, AI, data analytics, and other departments to enhance data platform outcomes and efficiency.

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for data platform initiatives, providing actionable insights and recommendations to the VP.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations within the data engineering portfolio, enhancing productivity and effectiveness.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their needs are addressed and fostering strong relationships.

  • Organize and lead executive meetings, preparing agendas, documenting minutes, and following up on action items to ensure accountability.

  • Assist in the development and management of budgets for data platform projects, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively.

  • Prepares technical and engineering budget and manages on all cloud and private platform request costs and capital projects associated with the data platforms to operate within budget guidelines.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in portfolio management, finance operations, vendor management, program management, or a similar role within the data platform engineering space.
  • Strong understanding of data platform technologies, familiarity with all cloud platforms, process automation, data and cloud infrastructure, and AI platform requirements.
  • Proven experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

Compensation

Primary Location Pay Range: $151,737.33 - $227,605.99

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
