Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Health Program Coordinator I. New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has achieved Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) accreditation in 2014 and reaccreditation in 2022. The Health Program Administrator I will maintain and achieve public health agency reaccreditation in 2027 and beyond. The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination, and submission of documentation to meet PHAB annual reporting requirements, in alignment with the Essential Public Health Services and Public Health Foundational Capabilities. The incumbent will establish agency-wide participation and accountability in the development of required documentation files to comply with PHAB standards and measures.

This position supports the Office of Public Health (OPH) and will work collaboratively with executive leadership across NYSDOH and other NYS agencies to establish accountability with PHAB standards and measures. The incumbent will support OPH in advancing health equity, establishing trust in marginalized, prioritized communities, and eliminating health disparities. The incumbent will collaborate with staff responsible for the delivery of the essential and foundational public health services at the NYSDOH with an emphasis on community engagement and communication; diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism; advancing health equity; enhancing access to care; strengthening the public health infrastructure and supportive policies and laws.

The incumbent will be provided an opportunity to build broad awareness of the Department’s work and have a voice in shaping agency culture toward equity, learning and quality improvement that values community engagement, innovation, excellence, integrity, teamwork, and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in project coordination/management, experience working with coalitions and/or stakeholder groups at a state, local and/or community level; experience in coordinating groups and teams across disciplines; experience utilizing a quality improvement lens; experience developing and providing training; utilizing dashboards for tracking program progress; experience preparing and/or writing reports to document program progress; a demonstrated broad knowledge of public health principles and practices; experience managing SharePoint sites and/or Microsoft Teams; proficient in Microsoft Office 365; highly detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and a customer service orientation. 

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
