Job Description

What you’ll do

Our 10-week paid internship will provide you with the foundation on how to conduct analysis of financial statements, assessment of credit requests, and delivery of recommendations tied to analysis and assessment of credit risk. You will receive accelerated learning and skill development through a mix of on-the-job training, mentorship, a community of peers and advisors, and a pathway to our full-time Credit Analyst Development Program upon graduation.

As a Credit Analyst Intern, you’ll:

Get hands-on experience working on projects that impact the business such as:

  • Reviewing of historical financial statement spreads
  • Analyzing financial statement results and preparing reports to communicate financial performance and trends with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, and/or Credit Administration
  • Researching industry specific information
  • Develop technical and business acumen through training, mentorship, and exposure to senior executives
  • Build a supportive community of peers through a variety of cohort strengthening activities such as social events, volunteer days, and development workshops
  • Complete a Credit Capstone project with other corporate credit interns and present to senior executives
  • Preparation of Quarterly Trend Analysis (QTA) reports, financial analyses, Annual Reviews, and Pre-Flight reviews of prospective borrowers
  • Testing for compliance with a wide variety of financial covenants as specified within loan documentation.
  • Reading and interpreting loan documentation to update monitoring requirements
  • Analyzing the financial statements of Borrowers in a given portfolio and presenting findings to Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, and Team Leads.
  • Interacting with Borrowers as appropriate and attending calls and meetings with Borrowers.

      Who we’re looking for

      We’re looking for talent with demonstrated leadership capabilities, strong work ethic, and intellectual curiosity.

      Basic qualifications:

      • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a target graduation date of December 2025 or May 2026
      • Some coursework in economics, accounting, and/or finance and the ability to apply knowledge in those areas to understanding the overall lending and business environment
      • Basic understanding of Financial/Accounting terms, concepts, and applications
      • Ability to start internship program on June 9, 2025

      • Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints
      • Ability to work equally well in a team environment and independently, exhibiting initiative, ownership, and flexibility

      • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 

      Working model and hours:

      This role is hybrid. Interns who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at the listed U.S. Bank location(s), while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.

      Interns work approximately 40-hours each week during the internship.

    The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $23.51 - $31.35 - $34.49
