Job Title: Principal Data Scientist, Enterprise Advanced Data Science - Finance

Job Summary:

Finance is of paramount importance to McKesson. The Principal Data Scientist will be part of a talented team of data scientists and collaborate with financial analysts and cross-functional data, analytics, and enablement teams to improve decision-making within our corporate and business unit-focused finance groups and the business. You will leverage data products such as Finance Data Product (FDP) to deliver prescriptive and predictive analytical insights. Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of robust, scalable data science solution(s) leveraging in-development and future data products such as FDP.
  • Architect and implement AI/ML models and systems for Finance applications to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of financial decisions, e.g., revenue forecasting, and customer segmentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements. Elevate outcomes by bringing AI expertise and business/functional knowledge to the table.
  • Build technically sound, business-friendly presentations ranging across end-to-end project activities (e.g., proposal, proof-of-concept analysis, modeling results, progress tracking, read outs) with minimal to no need for supervision.
  • Lead project teams of data scientists as needed, providing technical guidance and developing team members’ non-technical skills.
  • Manage resources from third-party vendors independently as needed.
  • Stay updated on advancements in AI/ML space broadly.

Typical minimum requirements:

  • Requires a min of 10+ years of hands-on work experience as a Principal Data Scientist developing and applying advanced analytics solutions in a corporate environment.

Critical skills:

  • Hands-on experience and foundational knowledge to build robust AI/ML models and implement it at scale.
  • Knowledge of pricing, preferably for McKesson or healthcare more broadly.
  • Proficient in many of the following techniques - time series, clustering, NLP, neural networks, KNN, decision trees, regression, etc.
  • Demonstrated professional experience working on programming languages, tools, and platforms like Python, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.
  • Strong grasp of fundamental statistical concepts: linear regression, A/B testing, outlier analysis, probability distributions, tests for independence, etc.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and results to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with data privacy standards, methodologies, and best practices.

Additional skills:

  • Positive and flexible attitude to enable adjusting to different needs in an ever-changing environment.
  • Teams up and collaborates for speed, agility, and delivery and operational excellence.
  • Experience working with large healthcare datasets is a plus.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau and Looker is a plus.
  • Prior data mining experience using enterprise systems (SAP or JD Edwards preferred).

Education:

  • MS or PhD in data science or related field

Relocation is NOT budgeted for this position.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$181,300 - $302,100
