Business Banking Risk is responsible for approval and oversight of risk frameworks and processes. You will support the team by seeking opportunities, understanding business challenges, improving, and designing automation solutions (including AI solutions), to overcome the key challenges. The Analytics and Automations team is a fast-paced, high performing team with great development opportunities. As part of the larger Credit Strategy and Analytics team, we are responsible for driving data-driven risk strategies and analysis through our expertise in data science, analytics and visualisation.

As a  key member of the Business Banking Risk Credit Strategy and Analytics, you will be responsible for using your coding and software development skills to address business challenges and improve operational efficiency. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and business acumen to design, develop, and implement artificial intelligence (AI) or software solutions that enhance various aspects of the business processes.

The primary focus of this role involves automation, data integration, and application development to streamline workflows and support business decision-making.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation and Application Development: Design and build automated application/solutions to streamline repetitive tasks and optimise processes within the Financial Risk domain. Identify opportunities for automation, develop scripts, and implement tools to enhance productivity across Business Banking and Business Banking Risk Management.

  • Data Integration and Implementation: Work closely with key stakeholders to understand data requirements. Develop data pipelines and integration processes to consolidate data from various sources into strategic platforms, making it easily accessible for modelling, portfolio reporting and analysis.

  • Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Analyse complex business problems and devise innovative technical solutions. Troubleshoot and debug existing code to resolve issues and optimise performance.

  • Integration of Software Systems: Integrate various software applications and tools to create cohesive, seamless workflows that enhance overall business operations.

  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that all solutions developed adhere to security protocols and comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

  • Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation for all developed solutions, including technical specifications and user guides. Conduct training sessions for end-users to ensure smooth adoption and utilization of new tools and applications.

 

We're interested in hearing from people who have

  • Programming/Scripting Proficiency: Strong expertise in one or more programming/scripting languages (including R, Python, JavaScript, HTML) and familiarity with software development frameworks and tools (e.g. Git, Github Action Jenkins, Docker, Unix Shell).

  • Visualisation and Reporting: prior experience building dashboards (R Shiny, PowerBI and Tableau) is essential.

  • Data Management: Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Teradata, Spark, Hive, SQL), data analysis tools (R, Python) and data integration techniques.

  • Cloud Technology: Familiarity with cloud technology (e.g. AWS ECS, AuroraDB, S3)

  • Artificial Intelligence: Familiarity with Statistical Modelling, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing will be beneficial.

  • Prior experience in developing automation solutions, implementing data systems, or creating business applications is advantageous.

  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with banking systems and processes, financial risk management and model development/monitoring would be beneficial in understanding the unique challenges and requirements.

  • A background in Data Science/Analytics/ Computer Science would be highly regarded.
