As an Accountant specializing in General Accounting at Varian, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) while managing a variety of accounting functions that drive our business forward. This role ensures accurate and timely accounting operations, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and support for internal and external audits. This role also performs fixed asset verification and prepaid sales incentive analysis and review.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close process for assigned entities, including the preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Ensuring Accuracy and Compliance: Oversee the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring transactions are properly recorded and reconciled. Ensure accounting activities are compliant with IFRS, including preparing, reviewing, and maintaining financial records.
  • Precision Review: Perform regular and ad-hoc account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Audit Excellence: Support fixed asset verification, internal and external audits.
  • Process Documentation: Create and maintain process documentation for all tasks related to various desktop processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing financial insights and support to drive business decisions.
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, contributing your expertise to diverse and dynamic challenges.
  • Championing Innovation: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.

Core Requirements

  • Expertise: A minimum of 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus in general accounting.
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Language Mastery: Fluent in English, both written and oral.
  • Software Proficiency: Experienced in applications such as Microsoft Office. Intermediate Excel skills are preferred.
  • Analytical Mindset: Possess an analytical and problem-solving orientation, with a natural curiosity about business issues, drivers, and solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, managing multiple priorities with ease.

The base pay range for this position is

Min $72,100 - Max $126,200

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
