The candidate for this role will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategy and managing critical functions within the student outreach unit. This portfolio includes key areas such as Outreach Publicity, Attracting Top Talents and Scholarship management, Alumni Engagement, Promoting Students’ Research and Innovation, Supporting STEM Education Initiatives, and MAE Events Management.
This role is vital for promoting MAE as a premier choice for outstanding candidates (both locals and from overseas) for STEM education. This role is pivotal for MAE’s effort to stay at the forefront of engineering education, while also engaging with the broader community in various innovative ways.
Key Results Area (KRA) - Major Activities:
Outreach Publicity
Develop and implement strategies to promote new outreaching programmes, initiatives and the School of MAE in general
Create and manage promotional campaigns to attract prospective students (both local and overseas)
Participate in various school, college and university level outreaching programmes
Alumni Engagement
Foster relationships with alumni to encourage their involvement in various school activities and events, like mentorship opportunities for students, donations, creating opportunities for internships for students etc
Coordinate alumni events and initiatives to strengthen the alumni network
Attracting Top Talents and Scholarship Management
Oversee the administration of scholarships, ensuring they are effectively promoted and awarded
Work with office of admission to review applicants and select recipients
Organize various outreaching activities for both local and overseas participants to visit MAE, including paid tours for overseas participants and weekend brunch events for top candidates to visit MAE.
Promoting Students’ Research and Innovation
Support various students’ activities of research and innovation, like RoboCup Competition, Drone Competition, NTU Grand Prix etc
Ensure MAE and students’ work gain recognition leading to various new opportunities for students’ career prospectives
Supporting STEM Education Initiatives
Maintain and coordinate MAE’s STEM education effort with various top JCs/ Secondary Schools for June and December Attachment to enhance MAE outreach to young talents
Conduct various school visits to Polys/JCs/Sec Schools to promote STEM education
Develop engaging content and to optimize engagement
MAE Events Management
Organize and support in various school, college and university level events for outreach recruitment and alumni activities with development of feasible strategies to increase MAE’s visibility and engagement
Plan and execute all outreach events and activities
Work closely with other departments and teams to align outreach efforts with the school’s overall goals
Coordinate with external partners and organisations to enhance outreach initiatives
Expectations of this role:
Continue to engage diverse stakeholders for the need to balance the expectations of multiple stakeholders such as students, faculty, industry partners, alumni and external organisations
Strive to achieve consistent participation from students and external partners in outreach programs, events and initiatives
Assist with administrative duties such as reporting, data management, and coordination with internal departments, college level etc
Keep up with evolving trends in education, technology, and industry expectations while ensuring outreach programs remain relevant and effective.
Reach out and connect with a wide and diverse audience (students, alumni, partners) and ensuring consistent, impactful communication.
Requirements:
Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
At least 3 years of relevant experience involving outreach, whether in an educational, nonprofit, or corporate setting
Understanding of Tertiary Education Systems, including student services, academic programs, student life etc is preferred.
Demonstration of good practices in organizing, promoting, and executing events like career fairs, open house, workshops, networking events, and outreach program.
Outreach marketing, including digital marketing, content creation, social media management, and public/media relations including writing press releases or managing public-facing content
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly
Proficiency in planning, executing, and evaluating projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
