We are looking for the Sr. Director, Risk and Compliance, Strategy & Transformation at eBay. In this role, you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to drive the transformation initiatives, ensuring that compliance and risk considerations are effectively integrated into the overall program transformation. Your responsibilities will include building the program and team, developing processes, workflows, and systems that align with compliance and risk programs. eBay recently brought together multiple teams that collectively handle risk and compliance for the platform including payment risk, payment compliance, product safety, vendor management and regulated payment entities.  This role will participate in building out the strategy, process and systems for the combined team.  Additionally, you will actively participate in identifying potential risk issues and providing compliance advice and support to internal transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data/tech driven initiatives redesigning processes that push change through our global organization. 

  • Lead and manage change projects related to risk, compliance post-merger integrations, payments product launches, and operational program design  efforts.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, legal) to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with eBay initiatives.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive risk and compliance platform to integrate our various products and services, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide risk needs and relevant regulations.  eBay is operating in an ever evolving regulatory environment, you will be a key leader in developing new risk and compliance solutions to meet those changes.

  • Stay up-to-date on evolving regulatory requirements for the marketplace and financial services industries, proactively adapting eBay’s processes and controls.

  • Manage and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders.

  • Develop the vision and strategy for eBay’s Risk and Compliance team and execute on short and long-term goals ensuring they accelerate broader eBay business outcomes, including shaping eBay’s risk appetite across customer segments.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams through automation, streamlining of processes, leveraging vendor partners and improvement of existing systems.

  • Build, scale and empower the Risk and Compliance team, ranging from team foundations, metrics definition, and operational processes to enable our scale to the next levels.

  • Instill customer centricity and strive to deliver a world-class customer experience through the lens of risk management.

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Experience working with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience, empowering operational teams and developing processes, ideally as part of a Risk organization; experience with both Risk (Fraud and Credit highly preferred) and Compliance (both payment compliance and product safety/platform compliance)

  • You have led, grown, and scaled large global teams

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing complex change initiatives with a focus on risk mitigation.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and develop solutions to complex risk scenarios.

  • Experience in fast-paced, ambiguous environments driving projects from strategy through implementation. 

  • Highly structured in your thinking, analytical and data driven; and excellent written and verbal communicator.

  • Strong track record of working cross-functionally with Data Science, Product, Engineering, Design, Sales, and other functions and can influence to achieve business objectives.

  • You strive for operational excellence and are energized by driving efficiency improvements in processes.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$184,000 - $312,400

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
