The Ultra Assurance function is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and fulfilment of Ultra's Quality Policy, which is to comply fully in the conduct of the Company's business with all applicable regulatory and customer required specifications, and to maintain an effective Quality Management System, working in partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that products and processes conform to applicable standards and specifications, and the incidence and costs of quality non-conformances are constantly monitored and improved, while maintaining the highest practicable standards of manufacturing productivity and efficiency.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of quality awareness.
  • Represent quality at weekly program meetings.
  • Update and/or create count defect sheets for the production floor
  • Update and/or create the yield report.
  • Material Review Board member
  • Ensure statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error when screening for non-conforming product.
  • Works with individual programs to monitor or analyze product assembly quality data and help correct quality issues.
  • Performs analysis on returned product and provides feedback to engineering to better improve the product / process.
  • Review and approve EN-FN’s and ECR/ECN’s
  • Start the generation of NCMRs, working with Ultra Supplier Quality Engineers for corrective action.
  • Ensure Work instructions and Processes meet AS9100 requirements.
  • Ensure the products & product work instructions are within customer quality systems specifications.
  • Develop new approaches to problem solving identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Issue Quality Alerts and maintain the QA log.
  • Serve as a quality assurance resource to supervisor(s) and production engineers for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Does sample selection and interfaces with customer quality representatives.
  • Report to programs on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Performs in-process quality monitoring of factory assembly lines and engineering assembly labs.
  • Assists with compiling, writing and delivering training on quality standards and company processes.
  • Schedules and/or performs solder training for the factory associates if needed.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in technical discipline or equivalent discipline

  • 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must currently have or have the ability to to obtain a DoD issued Secret security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens

  • Must have prior experience working with Prime defense contractors

  • Ability to travel as needed, including internationally 5%

Desired Skills:

  • Strong oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technology or Quality Assurance with 2+ years of experience in a Quality role in a manufacturing environment, or a Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or Quality Assurance

  • Self-motivated with strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills

  • Highly adaptive, team player with the ability to drive continuous improvements

  • Proficient with drawing interpretations and GD&T

  • Willing to work independently and in cross-functional teams

  • Willing to update technical processes and/or procedures

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (knowledge of Access Database is a plus)

  • Must be willing to communicate with suppliers & customer in a professional manner

  • Experience working with Prime defense contractors & DoD

  • Previous Program Quality Assurance lead experience

  • Secret Security Clearance 

  • IPC 610 IPC 620 certification 

  • Familiarity with MicroVu Inspection Equipment & CMMs 

  • Experience interacting with DCMA 

  • Oracle – AGILE quality module

  • Knowledgeable in GD&T

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification

  • Experience with Receiving Inspection activities

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 QMS

  • ASQ CQA/CQE/CQM certifications 

  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures and processes in a manufacturing production operation

  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in teams with members from various disciplines.
