Position Summary

The Enterprise Contract Facilitation Pod Lead at Bristol Myers Squibb is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing a team of Contract Facilitators within the U.S. and LATAM regions. This role ensures the consistent and efficient facilitation of contracts, adhering to legal and compliance standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Pod Lead will collaborate globally with other Pod Leads and stakeholders, fostering a customer-focused culture and developing strategies to enhance the contract facilitation process. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in legal and contracting within the pharma/biotech industry, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high performance and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, lead, manage, and develop team of Contract Facilitators. 
  • Actively partner with other enterprise contract facilitation to ensure business needs are met and proactively ensure consistent adherence to legal compliance requirements, BMS Standard Operating Procedures and escalation protocols. 
  • Collects and organizes team input and feedback and provides same to Contract Legal Support (CLS) to continually improve and augment in-scope contract templates and playbooks and assists CLS to localize the contract templates and playbooks as requested.
  • Drive the strategy and implementation for continuous improvement with standardization, process simplification, and automation to elevate the customer experience. 
  • Grow and develop an evolving customer-focused organization internally and externally. 
  • Develop, review, and analyze SLAs, KPIs, and other team performance metrics to support execution of long-term business plans and growth to drive business decisions, and report these metrics to the Head of Enterprise Contract Facilitation. 
  • Share best practices and learnings with other enterprise contract facilitation Pod Leads to ensure an aligned and consistent approach to contract facilitation across the enterprise contract facilitation team. 
  • Act as the final escalation point within the enterprise contract facilitation team on substantive contracting related questions and team related questions for the team. 
  • Maintain awareness of pre-contracting steps, including underlying BMS policies and procedures related to the contracts and the contracted activities within scope.
  • Apply quality assurance protocols to monitor team and individual quality and to ensure only appropriate escalations in compliance with escalation protocols. 
  • Identify potential risks associated with contracts and propose strategies for risk reduction to the Head of Enterprise Contract Facilitation and CLS. 
  • Coordinate with functions and stakeholders across BMS to ensure timely, compliant, and effective facilitation of contracts.
     

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years prior experience with legal and contracting within the pharma/biotech/CRO industry and team leadership required. 
  • Excellent understanding of pharma contracting, compliance, and policies relevant to the services within the remit of the role. 
  • Effective management of cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and demonstrated ability to work and influence within a matrix structure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and diplomacy to convey information and influence others with a strong customer focus. 
  • Demonstrates a high level of adaptability in dealing with ambiguous and complex work environment and balances multiples demands on role in a responsive and professional manner. 
  • Direct people management experience with demonstrated competencies in growth mindset strategies, mentoring and coaching and a strong proven desire to share knowledge and experience to promote the professional development of others. 
  • Proven ability to engage teams and inspire them to sustain high levels of performance in a constantly changing environment. 
  • Strong process mindset. 
  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management technology to automate and streamline processes. Familiarity with Icertis is ideal. 
  • JD strongly preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of contract construction, terms and conditions, with strong preference for working knowledge of facilitating, drafting, and negotiating buy-side and other in-scope contracts in the pharma/biotech industry.
  • Language Skills: Ability to speak and write in Spanish fluently is strongly desired.
