Job Description

The Ultra Finance function leads the budgeting and forecasting processes and supports the strategy process, as well as managing performance against Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) are looking for a FP&A Analyst to join the PCS Finance Function.

The PCS Finance function leads the budgeting and forecasting processes and supports the strategy process, as well as managing performance against budget.

Reporting to the FP&A Director, the successful candidate will be a key member of the FP&A team. We are looking for someone who is strong dealing with financials, accounting, and data analytics.

The purpose of the role is to support the FP&A Director in preparation of reports and carrying out analysis for key stakeholders. This will incorporate developing a deep understanding of the data driving the reporting by ensuring the accuracy of the data and implementing improvements to either the data or the processes driving the data where required. The key focus area will be around data which impacts finance forecasting, reporting and commercial decision making.

This role is ideal for someone either coming from a finance background with strong analytical and MI production skills or alternatively an analytically minded accountant who wants a broad and wide-reaching role, requiring both technical expertise and honed communication skills. The preferred candidate will be experienced, able to adapt to change, and someone who enjoys working with in a dynamic fast paced environment. This role will suit someone with a strong work ethic and who is looking to make an immediate impact on an exciting robust PE backed company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the FP&A Director on monthly reporting and analysis of key metrics, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all deliverables.
  • Provide key inputs and variance analysis in support of monthly board pack presentation.
  • Review monthly P&L and provide insight to management.
  • Collaborate with operations and sales teams to ensure consistency in forward looking data and reinforce a known ‘single source of truth’ datapoint.
  • Assist with the continuous refinement of annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes.
  • Partnering with budget holders to ensure robust cost control to deliver business targets and optimise spend.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the finance function from a process, operational, and systems perspective.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and project support as required supporting the broader finance transformation.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified or near qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA) with planning, forecasting, and budgeting experience
  • Strong MS Excel skill and sound knowledge of financial modelling
  • Detail orientated, analytical and problem-solving mindset, complemented by ability to surface the key material issues.
  • Ability to build relationships across the business and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience with manipulating large data sets to provide financial analysis.
  • Positive and proactive work ethic, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to building teamwork.
  • Knowledge of IFS, Power BI, Power Query or reporting consolidation tools (desirable)
  • Experience within a Defence or Aerospace environment (desirable)
