Lead Director – Enterprise Strategic Planning & Operations, Health Care Delivery ( Chief of Staff )

Position Summary

The Lead Director, Enterprise Strategic Planning & Opeartions ( COS ) will be part of the Enterprise Strategy organization and will partner closely with executive leaders in the Health Care Delivery business unit to drive strategic, operational, and fiscal initiatives across an organization that is rapidly expanding.  This role is a high-level individual contributor role with runway to evolve into a managerial role as the business expands.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic planning including leading cross-functional strategic projects executed in partnership with senior leadership and identifying opportunity areas for HCD to grow. Leads formulation, preparation, and communication of strategic and operational business plans.
  • Lead special projects across the organization such as executive-level presentations, innovation partnerships, performance reviews, process standardizations, and colleague engagement events.
  • Collaborate closely with the EVP of HCD to help manage the portfolio, manage leadership team meetings, build budgets, and develop department-wide communications. Develop communication vehicles (e.g., presentations, speeches) to help senior executives communicate strategy with internal and external audiences, including our C-Suite leaders and Board of Directors.
  • Support Health Care Delivery priorities such as goal setting in collaboration with the Vice President, Enterprise Strategy for the Health Care Delivery and Aetna business units. Effectively facilitate large scale meetings and strategic workshops, including preparation and driving tangible outcomes.

Required Skills:

  • Critical reasoning – your primary responsibilities require you to operate at the intersection of strategy, operations, and finance.
  • Proactivity – there is no set “playbook” for this job. An ideal profile for this is someone who takes the initiative to address priorities within the organization and likes the autonomy to act on those priorities.
  • Portfolio management – you will have exposure across multiple different priorities and will be responsible for keeping the team’s portfolio of activities organized.
  • Detail orientation – we are a complex and strategy drive organization. The details matter to us and our stakeholders.
  • Effective communication – the role requires succinct and thoughtful written and verbal communication across the organization.


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience at a top-tier management consulting firm
  • 3+ years' experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and other productivity software
  • 3+ years' experience building executive level deliverables (e.g., story-lining a presentation)
  • 2+ years experience with financial / fiscal management including budgeting & ROI calculations
  • Proven ability to work thru ambiguity, influence and drive buy-in for strategic direction with leadership


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as a Chief of Staff for an early/mid stage start-up
  • 2+ years experience leading a team and driving project deliverables
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple priorities
  • Interest in healthcare, technology, and analytics

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with a preference in a quantitative field or business administration
  • MBA is highly desirable

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
