Your Opportunity
Provide excellent customer service by relaying information and responding to questions or concerns from route drivers, contract growers, and farm managers via email, by telephone or in person in an appropriate manner. Utilizes trucks, drivers and equipment to ensure the timely, complete and accurate pick up of animal disposal by performing the essential duties and responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities
Establishes a good working relationship with team members and internal contacts in order to maintain and continuously strive to improve the level of overall service being provided.
Generates master schedule by preparing and organizing work schedules for employees to make sure that appropriate number of employees are on duty in every given work period/shift.
Studies changing traffic situations, traffic patterns and conditions as well as schedules for possible changes.
Troubleshoots and expedites operations that delay schedule and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Creates and maintains service reports to accurately capture customer information
Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization in order to coordinate service and schedules.
Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers
Receives incoming calls from farms, drivers and loading. Handles issues accordingly and logs all issues that pertain to transportation and production.
Tactfully handles confrontational or stressful interactions with the public and effectively resolves customer disputes.
Ensures compliance of federal and state DOT requirements.
Performs driver and equipment audits and performs sanitation inspections.
Maintains dept. records such as DVIR's, GPS tracking and departure schedules.
Assists all vehicle accidents, investigations and reports.
Responsible for following all policies and procedures which Smithfield Hog Production subscribes to including environmental and safety policies.
Maintains excellent communication between all departments.
Assists with special projects as assigned.
Responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield subscribes.
Identify, investigate, and resolve service-related issues, both internally and with outside vendors or customers.
Completes internal supporting paperwork upon time of receipt and enters all information into required MS Office programs.
Uses computerized systems for tracking, information gathering and troubleshooting.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.
For internal candidates with 4+ years of experience with the company, the Company has the discretion to waive educational requirements.
Must be able to work a 48+ hour week with an average 12-hour workday including weekends and holidays.
Must be on call to work in emergency situations to include but not limited to, power outages or personnel shortages.
Able to make decisions in a deadline-oriented position and in stressful situations.
Must have excellent organization, verbal and written communication and leadership skills
Organizational ability and critical thinking skills
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Must be able to work independently or effectively with others in a team environment.
Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
Ability to work independently in the absence of immediate supervision.
Mathematics - Knowledge of basic math and their applications
Interpersonal Skills - Able to develop and keep professional and cooperative relations with colleagues as well as with supervisors and representatives from other departments.
Communication Skills - Have great active listening skills. They must also possess a good hearing and have a clear speech. As well as be able to communicate effectively and to follow complex instructions.
Decision-making Skills. Able to use judgment and evaluate situations, establish priorities, as well as quickly resolve issues. Must have confidence as well as use reason and logic to approach problems and reach conclusions.
Writing Skills. Good writing and spelling skills means the ability to write clearly and spell correctly as is the ability to follow instructions, establish priorities, and pass on information as needed.
Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate
