About the Role

The CTO office is seeking a Technology Policy Associate to join their team. As a member of this role, you will assist the Technology Platform group in achieving its strategic objectives by documenting, tracking, and effectively communicating shared goals and priorities to the Board and Oversight.

The Technology Platform group is essential for the day-to-day delivery of the Swift services. It manages and operates the services used by customers on a 24/7 basis including the running of Swift’s operational centres and global network. The focus of Technology Platform is managing and safeguarding Swift’s infrastructure and systems, to ensure availability of the messaging services.

The Technical Policy Associate will work closely with the Corporate Office, technology teams, and security teams to support the CTO in fulfilling its mission. This role will involve providing transversal support in reporting on important initiatives to the Board and Oversight.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Crafting and managing personalized content, including written materials and visual aids, to clearly convey the organization's technology and security strategy, significant projects, and the progress of programs to all levels within the company and external entities.
  • Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across different technology and IT groups to formulate an in-depth understanding of issues and gather critiques of relevant content.
  • Ability to quickly distill complex technical issues into clear communications tailored across the organization, including executive management, internal customers, end users and external parties.
  • Collaborating with SMEs to develop innovative ways for crafting more detailed and engaging content for the company.
  • Ability to think strategically while developing and implementing action plans using an iterative approach with meticulous version control.
  • Crafting technical documents that convey accurate messaging for the different projects, while implementing feedback, and changes as required to meet timeline.
  • Ability to QA multiple content for errors, accuracy and tone.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines for multiple projects running in parallel.
  • Providing suggestions for effective strategies and improvements during content generation projects.
  • Using company brand voice and messaging for written pieces to reinforce the company culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Policy Analysis and Planning, Risk management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical writing and/or in technology and policy with strong relevant work experience in governance reporting (Exco, Board, Oversight), IT/cybersecurity field and/or risk management.
  • Experience in regulatory communications, project management, and development environments.
  • Experience in highly regulated environments, especially in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Experience in developing various content to support successful projects including but not limited to Executive Communications (e.g., written materials, visual presentations, etc.), documentation, policies, plans, and standards, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, and ability to structure thoughts into clear messages and content.
  • Prior experience in working with business, technical, and executive profiles with the ability to adapt messages across different types of audience (business, technical…).
  • Independent, responsible, and proactive with the ability to quickly adapt and respond to change.
  • Personal drive, passion, and enthusiasm to both understand and successfully navigate a company undergoing meaningful transformation in technology.
  • Exceptional communication skills, especially in a global environment is highly preferred.
  • Project management certification (Prince 2, PMP) is an asset
  • Attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
  • Healthy analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft suite (Teams, outlook, Sharepoint) and Atlassian collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)

The estimated salary range for this position in Virginia is $74,830 to $138,970 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employees, contingent on personal and company performance. We also offer a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance with no premium costs for employees and their families, as well as a retirement plan with matching 401k contributions.
