As a Product Owner – Data Usage Rights, you will be responsible for driving the expansion and adoption of permissible data usage across the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and alignment with strategic business objectives. You will collaborate with vendors, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to streamline data rights management processes, develop compelling value propositions for data usage contracts, and lead change management efforts. This role requires a strong product management mindset, deep knowledge of data privacy regulations, and the ability to communicate and negotiate with diverse stakeholders effectively.
Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
Engage with third-party vendors and internal teams to expand permissible data usage in alignment with organizational goals.
Manage relationships and expectations by negotiating contracts, defining requirements, and establishing clear SLAs.
Process & Technology Enhancement
Identify, design, and implement process improvements to streamline data rights management.
Evaluate and select technology solutions that ensure compliance, efficiency, and scalability in data consent and governance.
Value Proposition Development
Create compelling value propositions for data usage contracts, outlining benefits and ROI for both internal stakeholders and vendors.
Present findings and proposals to leadership, highlighting key opportunities and mitigating risks.
Standards & Compliance Integration
Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and technical teams to ensure data usage frameworks adhere to all relevant regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving data privacy laws and implement proactive measures to safeguard compliance.
Change Management & Communication
Lead change management initiatives that drive adoption of new data usage practices and policies across the enterprise.
Develop communication strategies and training materials to educate teams on data usage rights, consent management, and compliance responsibilities.
Product Management & Value Propositioning
Proven ability to define and execute product roadmaps for data-related initiatives, balancing both business needs and regulatory constraints.
Skilled in creating compelling narratives around data usage that resonate with varied stakeholders.
Legal & Regulatory Awareness
Strong understanding of data privacy frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, and other global regulations.
Ability to work closely with legal teams to align data usage practices with contractual and policy requirements.
Technical & Architectural Understanding
Familiarity with data governance tools, consent management platforms, and how these fit into broader enterprise architectures.
Capability to evaluate and recommend technical solutions that support robust data usage rights management.
Communication & Negotiation Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging senior leadership, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Adept at negotiating contractual terms, service level agreements, and stakeholder priorities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Leadership & Influence
Experience in leading complex, enterprise-wide change management initiatives, including stakeholder alignment and training.
Ability to motivate teams, build consensus, and champion data governance best practices throughout the organization.
15+ years in data governance and data privacy roles with product management exposure
