What you'll do:

The Enterprise Issue Management Senior Business Analyst will work within the Western Alliance Bank’s Second Line of Defense Risk Management and actively participate in the evolution of the Enterprise Issue Management (IM) program. This role reports to the Director of Issue Management, and supports the Enterprise Issue Management team, which is led by a Senior Director over IM, Change & Product Risk Management. This area is responsible for developing and implementing the company's IM, Product and Change Management frameworks. The IM program is in its growth phase, and one of its key objectives is to provide expert guidance, credible challenge, and effective oversight of IM throughout the company. IM plays a critical role in informing the Board of Directors, risk committees and bank management of all issue related matters and thereby contributes to managing the company’s enterprise risk.

What we are looking for:

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the day-to-day execution of the IM program
  • Keep abreast with, and comprehensively monitor progress of, all individual Issues and Risk Acceptances through the IM Lifecycle; assist in closure of Issues within their defined scope and time constraints; constructively collaborate with stakeholders in the process
  • Understand and coordinate interdependencies of IM with other risk areas and Business Controls Testing team
  • Escalate material challenges to the IM Program Director; suggest possible resolutions
  • Perform gap analyses to address program execution deficiencies as necessary; contribute to program’s overall improvement
  • Become an expert in all aspects of the IM module in the company’s GRC tool; be able to nimbly maneuver through the module
  • Proactively engage with business users in understanding their tool-related needs; lead regular weekly office hours to provide support; provide timely and effective responses to users’ tool-related ad hoc inquiries
  • Track implementation of IM module enhancement related backlog items
  • Liaise with the GRC team to maintain Issues data in the system; assist in maintaining the integrity and consistency of pertinent information therein
  • Take ownership of IM reporting for varied target audience; create periodic and ad hoc IM reports under direction of senior members of the IM team
  • Contribute to the overall enhancement of IM reporting process
  • Take ownership of maintaining IM Standards, Procedures and Reporting documentation in the GRC tool and the IM SharePoint
  • Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical teams in internal organizations to help in meeting project targets and IM program requirements
  • Create presentation decks and supporting materials for various management committee meetings
  • Assist in development of training materials on topics related to IM
  • Ensure the IM project plan reflects accurate status updates
  • Develop healthy working relationships across business and risk management areas
  • Expert in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, etc.
  • Demonstratable understanding and/or experience as end-user for a least one leading industry GRC platform
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Have strong organizational skills to document activities, anticipate challenges, plan, schedule, monitor planned activities, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in coordinating multiple requests simultaneously and switch tasks based on shifting priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization; balance strategic priorities with tactical actions
  • Competent and sophisticated communication (verbal and writing) skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Audit or Project Management areas in financial services
  • Prefer working knowledge of general banking operations such as deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services
