Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity in Human Resources? AMLI Residential is seeking an Employee Relations Manager to join our team in Chicago. In this role, you will be responsible for building and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan to ensure all HR employment law compliance and company policies are followed. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Chief HR Officer.
As the Employee Relations Manager, you will work closely with the HR and Legal & Risk Management (LRM) departments to ensure that all local, state, and Federal employment requirements are met. You will be responsible for managing HR policy requirements, workforce training, and HR capability building, as well as providing guidance and leadership in staff/workforce planning, employee relations, and training.
You will also be responsible for handling employee relations while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws. This will involve resolving issues proactively with managers and/or employees, providing counseling to employees, and coaching with management to ensure skilled transfer on handling employee issues.
Additionally, you will act as a subject matter expert regarding the aspects of pre-hire review, onboarding, employment authorization eligibility, Employment Status/Temporary/Independent Contractor assignments, and mandatory workforce training. You will also partner with the Benefits team to advise on leave of absence escalations, workplace accommodations, and ensure they are consistently addressed and in compliance with company policy as well as applicable state, provincial, and federal regulations (FMLA, ADAA, AODA).
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide leadership and direction for HR direct reports, ongoing training, and motivation of staff. You will ensure regular coaching and career development for all staff members and act as a back-up for SVP of HR and support/manage miscellaneous projects as required.
