The Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of our pharmaceutical distribution center, focusing on staffing, employee engagement, profitability, quality, compliance, and process improvement. The Operations Manager will work closely with other departments, managers, and supervisors to ensure efficient operations, maintain inventory control, and develop procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Schedule

Night Shift: Hours/days will vary per business needs (6pm to 2:30am but stay till completion)

Must be open to flexible hours, including potential overtime.

Key Responsibilities

 

Operational Management

  • Direct daily activities across multiple departments.

  • Oversee order filling and shipping processes.

  • Ensure timely availability of materials and finished goods.

  • Maintain facility cleanliness and organization.

  • Work with other departments, managers, and supervisors to achieve business objectives.

 

Staffing and Leadership

  • Lead and develop supervisors and other staff members.

  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training.

  • Foster a high level of employee engagement and employee retention.

  • Build teamwork among management and staff.

 

Reporting and Analysis

  • Review and analyze operational reports and records.

  • Monitor costs and budgets.

  • Implement improvements to current procedures.

  • Actively work with the Continuous Improvement (CI) Team to identify process improvement within the DC.

 

Compliance and SOPs

  • Maintain current standard operating procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company policies.

  • Meet daily service level and quality goals.

 

Collaboration and Communication

  •  Interact with various internal and external stakeholders.

  •  Support customer relations and key negotiations.

  •  Communicate effectively across all levels and functional areas.

 

Management Responsibilities

  • Manage moderately complex teams.

  • Make decisions impacting team and departmental goals.

  • Ensure actions do not adversely affect customer experience.

 

Job Complexity

  • Guided by policies, procedures, and the business plan.

  • Lead independently with general guidance from the manager.

  • Present factual information during interactions.

 

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 6+ years of professional experience and 0-2 years of supervisory experience.

Critical Skills

  • 6+ years of warehouse experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

  • Leadership, coaching, and development skills

  • Strong employee engagement abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of Operations Management

  • Strategic thinking and planning skills

 

Additional Skills

  • Distribution experience preferred

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Budget and expense management

  • Project management experience

  • Six Sigma training or experience

 

Physical Requirements

  • High energy distribution center environment

  • Various shifts and occasional overtime may be required

  • Able to walk up to 10 miles throughout the course of a shift (steps vary per shift) 

  • Ability to lift 20 to 50lbs repetitively throughout the course of a shift without assistance (weight varies based on product)

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$66,000 - $110,000
