Job Description:

Department Overview:

This role is positioned within the Platforms and Technology (P&T) Finance team supporting Corporate Platforms. This open role supports two VPs of Corporate Platforms and Technology, who supports Corporate Functions such as HR, Risk Management, Legal,  Compliance and others. This position will report to the Finance Manager for Corporate Platforms. The Corporate Platforms Finance team is part of the wider Technology Finance team which delivers technology solutions across the entire Bank (i.e. both Business Units and Corporate Functions). The P&T organization provides high exposure on technology expenses, one of TD's highest strategic priorities. This role provides an excellent opportunity for future career development beyond this role in supporting TS across a broad and diverse portfolio of both Business and Corporate units.

Job Description:

This role will support two VPs of Corporate Platforms and Technology, and their direct leadership team (AVPs, Senior Managers and Technology Asset Owners) by providing end-to-end Financial Planning & Analysis as well acting as a trusted business advisor to ensure that operational and strategic decisions are aligned and balanced with the corresponding financial impact, constraints, and drive Shareholder value. End-to-end Financial Planning & Analysis entails:

  • Working with the Technology teams, Business Operations Management group, and Vendor Management to assess the operational requirements of this unit and build corresponding annual financial Budgets and quarterly financial Forecast updates
  • Reporting and analyzing how the financial results (actuals) compare to Plan and Forecast; identifying key insights in the form of variance drivers, trends, and risks/opportunities to under/over-perform against Plan/Forecast
  • Preparing financial presentation packages and meet with the VPs and their leadership team on a regular (at least monthly) basis to present key insights, ensure the executive team has a clear line of sight to their materialized and future expected financial performance in a manner that drives informed decision-making based on the financials
  • Ensuring that the reported financial results comply with accounting standards and internal audit/controls by performing strong due diligence/vetting of posted transactions and executing required ledger entries such as accruals, deferrals, and internal re-allocations
  • Performing ad hoc exercises as required (e.g. reviewing Business Cases to validate financial input and impact against existing expense baseline, update the financial reporting model and structure to ensure alignment with any corresponding organizational changes such as merging of departments)

In addition to the above, there is a strong focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation with the goal of enhancing financial reporting insights and transparency while decreasing workload and cycle times.

Job Requirements:

  • Highly skilled and experienced in Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Highly organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to foster and maintain strong relationships with a multitude of business partners
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal), facilitation, and consensus-building skills
  • Taking leadership and ownership of processes and results to drive successful outcomes
  • Ability to work with and distill large amounts of data into meaningful information with minimal management supervision
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced and constantly changing environment
  • Possesses ability to manage several projects/tasks concurrently
  • Expertise in accounting guidelines and rules

Education and Professional Experience Requirements:

  • University degree (Finance/Accounting/Economics preferred)
  • Completed or working towards CPA, CFA designations would be a strong asset
  • 5 or more years of professional experience centered in areas such as financials, analytics, accounting
  • Proficiency and experience with Excel and Powerpoint is required
  • Proficiency in Powerquery/Powerpivot, Macros are a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Hyperion Smartview/Essbase, Oracle Business Intelligence, Tableau and Alteryx would be an asset
