What You'll Bring:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a highly analytical field such as economics, finance, mathematics, operations research or statistics.  Requires a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a variety of analytical positions.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in credit, financial services consulting, or financial services industry. Direct experience on the client side of business preferred.  
  • At least 3 years’ prior experience managing analytical professionals. Ability to manage a staff consisting of managers and experienced professionals who synthesize and analyze information and determine the appropriate course of business action using varying degrees of analytical, technical and marketing skills.
  • Evidence of strong analytical, critical, and creative thinking and willingness to take initiative in problem-solving.
  • Successful demonstration of defining and executing analytic solution strategies and roadmaps, setting budgets and monitoring financial performance.  Experience working within a matrixed organization preferred.
  • Significant experience delivering analytic services within the CRA/Software/Marketing data industry.  Credit risk within financial services and regulated environment experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.  Ability to present and discuss information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Strong presentation skills to audiences of various sizes and seniority, technical and business focused.  Ability to communicate and apply a consultative/solution-based approach.  
  • Able to translate a vision into actionable items and communicate progress against goals.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision.  Ability to think innovatively and drive change throughout the organization.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience using SAS, R, or Python.
  • Advanced programming skills and aptitude; mastery with statistical programs such as R or Python; mastery of other programming and data manipulation languages and big data platforms (SQL, Hive, Spark, C/C++, Java); high level of familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Availability to travel, potentially internationally (up to 10%)

Impact You'll Make:

Looking for an experienced and enthusiastic leader to lead Data Science & Analytics (DSA) team for TransUnion Canada by developing and maintaining competencies required for generic and custom analytic solutions. You will be one of the senior members of the International Data and Analytics (Intl. D&A) team.

  • Define and ensure stakeholder agreement with a comprehensive regional three-year analytics strategy and operating plan in collaboration with the Intl. D&A team.  
  • Develop and deliver analytic solution roadmaps to exceed revenue growth targets.
  • Identify market trends and develop strategies to meet the market trends, resulting in increased market share.
  • Leverage, drive adoption, and contribute to global best practices and intellectual property, tailoring to local market needs as appropriate.
  • Work with internal and external customers to identify customers’ short- and long-term analytic needs. Construct plans to develop and/or obtain the capabilities to meet these needs.  
  • Responsible for the design, development and management of all custom and generic analytical services, from initial consultations with potential customers through integrating the completed analytical solution into customers’ business processes.  Work collaboratively with the technology and operations teams to ensure new analytic product innovations are successfully delivered on time and within budget.
  • Oversee and direct the work of managers and seasoned data science professionals.
  • Assist them in completing their work assignments.
  • Develop tactics for completing annual and longer-term goals and objectives of the department.  Ensure that policies and procedures are taught and followed by the entire unit.  
  • Maintain a performance tracking dashboard, reporting progress monthly (revenue, sales pipeline, key projects, key risks).
  • Maintain effective communication among internal business units and external customers to ensure the efficient completion of work that will meet the needs of all parties.
  • Represent Data Science and Analytics at a variety of different forums.
  • Provide input to the formulation of industry related communications/publications/whitepapers and attend and present at industry conferences.
  • Collaborate with sales associates and Business Development, assisting their efforts to uncover new opportunities that contribute to TransUnion’s long-term revenue stream.
  • Provide creative solutions and direction towards the completion of project proposals, sales presentations and promotional materials.  Offer sales support by presenting results and/or preparing documentation as needed to provide support of customer solutions.
  • Develop and manage the unit’s annual budget in conjunction with Intl. D&A team.
  • Build and manage a team of highly competent analytic professionals, empowering a data-driven culture including, hiring, training, career development and advancement, performance evaluations, and salary reviews.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
