We are seeking an experienced Director of Product Design and User Experience to elevate the design function within Global Clinical Operations Tech. 

This role will lead a user-centered approach to product design, ensuring exceptional end to end user experiences across our application portfolio. Partnering closely with Product Owners, Engineers, and end users, the Director will identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve systems, and drive design maturity. 

Design Strategy & Leadership

  • Own the Design Strategy and be accountable for the quality of design decisions across the portfolio. 
  • Champion industry-leading design processes, tools, and frameworks to ensure intuitive, user-friendly solutions. 
  • Provide design leadership across Clinical Operations Tech, managing demand through a holistic understanding of user needs and business goals. 
  • Partner with Product Directors and Engineering Managers to embed Design Thinking into Agile processes, improving value propositions and prioritizing investments that meet true user needs. 

User-Centered Solutions 

  • Oversee end-to-end user experience strategies, ensuring alignment with user goals, business processes, and technical delivery. 
  • Conduct user research through qualitative inquiry, quantitative analysis, and usability testing to deeply understand user needs and expectations. 
  • Develop personas, user journeys, and stories to inform strategic improvements and value propositions. 

 Cross-Portfolio Collaboration 

  • Drive a holistic understanding of end-to-end user journeys across the Global Clinical Operations portfolio, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and deliver measurable business value. 
  • Partner with Product Owners, Engineers, Business Stakeholders to integrate design seamlessly into the product development lifecycle and appropriately resource teams to execute 
  • Define and promote cross-product standards that enhance design maturity and consistency across R&D Tech. 

Advocacy & Innovation 

  • Act as a strong advocate for design thinking and user-centered design across the organization. Influence senior leadership to prioritize user needs and champion a customer-first mindset. 
  • Stay current on design trends, tools, and technologies, driving continuous improvement and innovation. 

Team Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of designers (junior to senior), fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and learning. 
  • Drive team excellence by developing talent, setting clear goals, and enabling growth opportunities. 

Measuring Impact 

  • Define and track metrics to measure the impact of design decisions on user satisfaction, product adoption, and business outcomes. 

Why you? 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Biological Sciences, or similar discipline 
  • Total experience of 18+ years out of which experience: 10+ years in UX/Product Design roles, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity. Experience in healthcare, pharma, or regulated industries is a plus. 
  • Skills: 
  • Proven expertise in user research, design strategy, and design systems. 
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to develop high-performing teams. 
  • Experience embedding design processes into Agile product development lifecycles. 
  • Ability to communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Tools: Proficiency with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite). 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in healthcare, pharma, or regulated industries. 
  • Experience working in a global Tech/IT or pharmaceutical research organization  
  • Proven track record of working as part of agile product development teams 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multi-national / multi-cultural environment 
  • Experience working in a matrix environment with input from scientists and technologists 
  • Track record in successful technology strategy development, programme and product delivery, service and vendor management
