The Science and Area Management (SAM) Business Process Analyst reports to the Science and Area Management Director (SAM Director) and supports the Science functional area, the Area Management teams and the Business Operations team. This person will lead several critical functions focused on moving these areas forward with an emphasis on data management and integration and process improvement through systems.

This position also supports SharePoint administration for Science and Area Management groups to effectively collaborate across teams and continue the advancement of SharePoint tools. They will be an integral participant with the Science Planning and Implementation teams, as well as the Area Management Teams. They are responsible for development, process, and delivery of the programmatic planning tool, the Allocated Resource Summary (ARS), coordinating the data reporting and advancing data management.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $90,000 to $97,000 annually.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

  • Vision:  Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

  • Mission:  To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines.  The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

The Challenge:

  • Coordinates with teams under Science and Area Management and across the ASC organization to improve and integrate data collection practices, as a key project.

  • Responsible for the process, data management procedures, design, improvement and integrity of the Allocated Resource Summary (ARS), working collaboratively with all stakeholders on inputs. Ensures quality and on-time quarterly delivery at direction of the SAM Director.

  • Enhances and communicates the established ARS business rhythm with all ASC stakeholders; identifies opportunities to integrate quality control measures and produce the best end-to-end process; champions the ARS as an integral USAP planning tool.

  • Interfaces with the National Science Foundation (NSF) as needed to support ARS communications and change requests; interacts in a professional and tactful manner and provides efficient response to customer requests.

  • Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of ASC and customer roles, requirements, constraints, priorities and timelines as they relate to ARS development and deliverables.

  • Leads teams in best practices using their influence and expertise. Builds a strong team environment to enable the organization to resolve challenges, conflicts and problems. Leads assigned initiatives and is a positive force within SAM.

  • Leads process/systems development process; creates maps for new and existing processes; identifies inefficiencies and opportunities for optimization. Researches and implements improvements. Develops and maintains documented procedures.

  • SAM’s lead representative to ASC’s Data Intelligence working group for development of SharePoint solutions and creation of data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI. Collaborates with other Science and Area Management representatives of the Data Intelligence group.

  • Develops and integrates Microsoft Power BI analytics, dashboards, and published reports for metrics governed by SAM.

  • Serves on Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) for technological developments as the representative of SAM.

  • Oversees all SharePoint development for all subgroups under SAM Director.

  • Oversees all distribution lists/security groups under SAM Director.

  • Develops training materials and provides training as necessary (SharePoint, Microsoft Power BI,ARS data input tool, etc.).

  • Works across ASC organization, outside agencies and customer to provide communications, reports, and integration on data collection and processes.

  • Supports the Business Operations team by integrating SAM efforts & planning into overall programmatic and business directives. Assists with cost control efforts and population billet management.

  • Performs other duties as required.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least four (4+) years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with at least 2 of prior relevant experience. Equivalent years of work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience leading change efforts and leading projects resulting in implementation of complex new systems or processes.

  • Extensive knowledge of core Microsoft products and extended Microsoft product family including SharePoint development and/or administration experience, Power BI, and Access.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and colleagues.

  • Highly motivated self-starting team player.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams.

You May Also Have:

  • Experience integrating multiple projects into an Integrated Master Schedule

  • Experience managing international or global programs or remote sites. Possesses an understanding of general coding, data analysis, data visualization, and SQL databases.

  • Experience planning or operating one or more of the resources planned in the Allocated Resource Summary.

  • Experience managing financials.

  • Experience creating executive summary presentations.

  • Knowledge of processes and roles across the Antarctic Support Contract, National Science Foundation, and outside agencies.

  • Knowledge of other systems currently used in the Antarctic Support Contract (Maximo, Pipeline, POLAR ICE).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
