Reporting into the GSK Ware Manufacturing site’s Digital Lead, the Digital CI Lead works alongside the Digital Factory team and contributes to the continuous improvement of systems, processes and the wider digitalization journey at the Ware site.  Working across the manufacturing site you will support the business’s digital business objectives with best-in-class continuous improvement methodologies, tools and digitalization efforts for operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities (include..,):

•              Driving and overseeing continuous improvement (CI) projects by utilizing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance plant operations.

•              Guiding the digital factory team on the reasons, methods, and subsequent steps when there is a change in scope (or when seeking second extension permissions) for a CAPA.

•              Assisting the Digital team to evaluate CI requests and Accelerators to streamline and eliminate waste.

•              Managing QA Continuous Improvement activities in batch flow (including Auto release “No Atyps” and dashboards) to enhance flow.

•              Providing support during audits and serving as the primary decision-maker for investigation management and the CAPA panel.  This element of the role extends to aiding the MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) team before the CAPA panel.

•              Evaluating current processes and workflows to pinpoint areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

•              Developing and maintaining tools to track progress and measure the impact of improvement initiatives.

•              Working closely with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

•              Conducting training sessions and workshops to up-skill the Digital Team on lean and continuous improvement techniques.

•              Preparing / presenting reports on improvement projects, highlighting achievements and future opportunities.

•              Identifying (and assessing) emerging digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and data usage.

•              Developing and maintaining digital dashboards and reporting systems to provide real-time data and insights.

This role is a great opportunity to be instrumental in developing the Ware Site’s future factory aims.  You will be working at the cutting edge of digital transformation within GSK, in a high-profile role with senior leadership involvement.  As this role is multi-faceted and includes liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders (including on-site production and operations teams), you must be a highly self-motivated person who has strong experience of working in complex manufacturing situations.  You will be resilient and calm under pressure, with strong people skills and a proven ability to influence people to achieve.  You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset and be hands-on in your approach.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form, and the site has circa 1,500 highly-motivated and capable people working at it.  The Ware site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in oral and solid dose forms, as well as operating a high-volume commercial production for respiratory devices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject (eg; computer science or IT or Business Digital, Change Management, etc).

  • Experience in Highly-Regulated Manufacturing environments (eg; Pharmaceuticals, Med-tech / Biotech, Medical-devices, etc).

  • Lean six sigma trained or certified DMAIC

Preferred Experience

  • Strong Experience of working with digital solutions in a    GxP environment

  • Strong stakeholder management and team management skills

  • Experience at working within a cross functional team

  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice in a Pharmaceutical Environment and EHS standards

  • Good organizational and planning skills

  • Self-motivated and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • Experience of working within a team to support significant business change

  • Proven ability to influence

  • Business partnering skills in Manufacturing Systems / electronic record systems

  • Rolling out Digital Systems to modernize batch record systems  

  • Effective communication skills to partner with Business; managing offshore IT service providers on day-to-day technical changes and articulating complex technical IT issues in simple terms to non-IT stakeholders

  • Experience of managing UATs, acting as a Tester/Test Manager

  • Exposure to change management tools & techniques (for eg. ADKAR, Heatmaps, Change Impact Assessment, etc.)
