Materials Process Engineer Manager
Job Description Summary
The strategic manager is responsible for analyzing the operating environment, identifying process inefficiencies, and spotting opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, materials, and energy.
Manage a team responsible for materials and supply chain process engineering that designs and implements the raw materials, works in process, and finishes product flow up to the manufacturing process.
Implement new and enhanced processes and tools. Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
Develop and evaluate pilot programs, systems, software, equipment simulations, and prototypes to implement the most efficient and safe method for a continuous process flow material just in time to high-profit manufacturing lines.
The primary responsibility will be providing materials and processes (M&P) technical guidance and direction to the supply chain team during the project's design, test, production, and maintenance phases. Tasks will include recommending and supporting the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials and processes from receiving to customer EOM and Service shipments.
Oversee the required headcount for the project implementation while communicating cross-functionally until implemented as the regular production process; responsible for implementing end-to-end engineering change coordinated by New Programs.
Job Description
Responsible for implementing key Plant projects:
- Responsible for IPF (Integrated Plant Floor System) project implementation, which consists of technologically coded solutions to manage warehouse systems, including inventory management, supporting our business with Financial and Absolute inventory accuracy, FIFO, and a Pull System to manage inventory streamlines and workflows, consumption, and lot traceability to protect OEM needs.
- Implementing this program ensures accurate and efficient inbound, warehousing, kitting/manufacturing, and outbound processes. Success in implementing this program will support our company's improvement of 10% inventory reduction.
- Mother and Daughter – Delivery Routes project to create a forklift-free facility, improving associate safety, increasing productivity + 5%, and better resource utilization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Tugger Routes to support continuous improvement in the following areas:
- Incident rate reduction, optimizing frequency and capacity to transport materials to assembly lines.
- Fork truck reduction, battery efficiency, and decreased traffic inside the high-volume facility.
- Delivering parts right on 1st time, with FIFO, by designing market capacity to increase inventory rotation.
- Improve 10% OEE on High-Profit assembly lines, delivering parts just in time.
- Head Count optimization by 10%, supporting the company to increase productivity.
- Responsible for new projects (Coordinated Engineering changes, OEM Model Year Engineering changes, and Build-out execution at Business Case target.
- Explore, pilot, and test new systems and software innovations in the market to implement new technology and, as a result, improve safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, productivity, and cost.
- Responsible for planning, standardizing, implementing, and enhancing product design related to tools, processes, and methods that support the value stream organization (VSO) and its objectives.
- Design a system to optimize storage location and flex raw materials / work-in-process supermarkets based on market conditions by analyzing trends and future demand using the PFEP tool, customer EDI, and sales trend update layouts on AutoCAD once updated.
- Define work-in-process materials buffer calculations, pull cards, and loop size based on FQVT analysis using PFEP, Downtime trends, Line pacemaker, and floor space availability.
- Maintains a safe and secure work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Provides management control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Oversees API, data financial integrity, and cycle counting and will maintain all systems applications in the company ERP system Oracle.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and work well with all levels of management and staff.
- Lean Manufacturing expertise to manage new projects and continuous improvement.
- Automotive manufacturing flow experience to design and implement new technologies, systems, and software.
- Proficient with inventory reporting systems, Excel, Microsoft Office, MRP Systems, and Problem Solving.
- Completed bachelor’s degree in the supply chain, Business administration, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field preferred.
- 2 – 4 Years Manufacturing process, experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, experience on New Projects execution, business cases.
