Job Summary

 

The VP, Strategic Marketing is responsible for clearly defining, planning and executing marketing plans that bring Surescripts solutions to the multiple market segments required to build a network and for enabling the sales team to drive portfolio growth. The incumbent leads and manages our product and segment marketing teams as well as a growing partner marketing program and is at the forefront of defining our priorities and strategies for taking products/solutions to market.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual, measurable product and segment marketing goals that align to annual revenue and sales goals to help drive growth, looking at least two years out.
  • Develop clear product/solution and segment annual marketing priorities and plans, adjusting throughout the year with clearly communicated updates internally to keep all involved functions aligned.
  • At least annually, present the strategic marketing plan to the Executive Team leaders involved in growth (usually the Chief Product Officer, Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer and Chief Growth Officer).
  • For products/solutions that involve a network build, orchestrate the product and segment marketing teams in building unique messages and marketing strategies for each segment involved. 
  • Serve as key member of the Marketing Leadership Team, providing product and segment plans and priorities that help orchestrate messages and priorities in the downstream content, event and interactive marketing teams.

    • Research, understand and articulate clear market needs for each product/solution area, noting that many products will have multiple target segments, each of which has its own value proposition which will need to be coordinated with segment marketing.
    • Identify competitive alternatives to our solutions in the market, research their competitive stance and develop sales tools/messages to help us compete.
    • Articulate clear product/solution messages and Surescripts differentiators
    • Monitor and manage network build needs across markets to enable targeted programs where the network build is a priority.
    • Build and execute marketing plans, with the downstream marketing team, for customers and prospects that promote new products as well as enhancements, upgrades and performance improvements in current solutions.   
    • Develop and execute sales enablement programs.
    • Develop and manage key marketing program success metrics in coordination with marketing operations.
  • Lead segment and partner marketing team across existing and new segments to:
    • Understand segment personas, business issues and priorities
    • Customize product/solution messages to meet the segment needs
    • Develop and execute marketing strategies, with the downstream marketing teams, for each segment that generate new business and/or increased adoption & utilization within a customer or segment for an existing business.
    • Develop and monitor key marketing program success metrics in coordination with marketing operations.
  • Provide effective leadership, direction and overall oversight to the product/segment marketing team.
    • Build product/segment marketing team capabilities (Pragmatic Marketing, Forrester)
    • Build capabilities needed to develop effective nurture campaigns and Account-Based Marketing programs that drive measurable business results.
    • Develop and manage the budget across product/segment marketing
  • Develop and run sales enablement programming focused on product and segment messaging that aligns with market-facing programs.
    • Build, manage and deliver annual sales meeting agenda, coordinating with the events team on experience.
    • Bring actionable competitive intelligence and messaging to internal teams
    • Build messaging platforms for products/segments
    • Provide oversight and direction to the product and segment marketing teams that will partner with strategy and product innovation to develop talking points for the sales team covering differentiation and approaches to dealing with competitors.
    • Build and deliver sales enablement programs that are engaging, in keeping with our culture and values and effective in delivering results for the organization.
  • Maintain customer relationships and stay apprised of key market trends and lead research that drives growth:
    • Build, manage and deliver annual Customer Forum agenda, coordinating across teams to deliver content and with the events team to deliver the experience.
    • Network/build relationships with key customers and associations
    • Partner with Chief Marketing Officer and VP Account Management & Customer Support to manage our Network Alliance Advisory Council.

Qualifications    

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in business to business Marketing including demonstrated experience managing and leading teams.
  • Strong background in sales enablement and developing teams that can successfully build sales capabilities aligned with product and segment messaging.
  • Experience with sales tools, messaging training, segment insights and competitor training (this does not include pure sales skills training like negotiating, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • Majority of experience in the healthcare information technology market.

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $227,500 - $278,100 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
