Get to Know the Opportunity:

This position has actuarial responsibility for a subset of a major operating group. Manages day-to-day actuarial responsibilities and ensures project completion within established timelines and quality standards. Develops and mentors more junior team members. Contributes to the development of new approaches and tools.

 

The Contributions You'll Make:

This role has two primary functions. First, developing and managing data and analytics to support primary pricing functions across products (stop-loss, group annual term and, supplemental voluntary benefits). Second, providing actuarial support for legacy products (primarily UL) and support of other actuarial teams (primarily Group annual term and Supplemental benefits).

 

Actuarial Data & Analytics

  • Develop analytic data models for work site benefits actuarial analysis across supplemental voluntary benefits, stop-loss and, group annual term benefits.
  • Develop requirements for data aggregation and work with IT and information management teams to implement
  • Develop requirements and work with business information management team to implement  analytic visualization tools
  • Leverage descriptive and diagnostic analytic approaches to perform analysis to determine underlying trends in emerging experience
  • Coordinate with internal and external predictive analytics team to develop predictive and prescriptive analytics
  • Align actuarial data strategy across products

 

Actuarial Support

  • Monitor and/or modify various formulas and actuarial models for legacy products (UL, whole life, group annual term life)
  • Manage and/or provide technical guidance to staff responsible for conducting actuarial studies and activities
  • Support development of the annual strategic plans and/or communicate the model to management
  • Provide detailed output needed for financial planning
  • Direct the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulas
  • Lead key initiatives across functional departments
  • Direct projects as assigned

 

Minimum Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or business-related discipline
  • ASA or newer FSA
  • 7+ years financial, insurance industry, or actuarial experience
  • Highly analytical, strong oral and written communication skills, detail oriented with an ability to solve complex business problems; capable of effectively communicating with all audiences; good presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of applicable insurance metrics and / or accounting standards
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to manage and negotiate competing priorities and deadlines
  • Capable of effectively participating in cross functional / cross business unit teams

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Technical skills such as SQL and Python are strongly preferred

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$148,500 - $185,620 USD
