Job Summary

The Network Engineer II is responsible for planning, designing, engineering, configuration and troubleshooting of complex data, video and voice networks. This individual works closely with clients, vendors, carriers and other technical and non-technical staff to analyze business and technical requirements and develop options, recommendations and associated cost benefits, while providing engineering design for implementations. This position will research, evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies for data, video and voice networks. Will assess emerging technologies and make recommendations to Information Technology management. Lastly, this role oversees, certifies and assists in implementation and support of the enterprise wide network.

Pay Range

Minimum $50.40 Midpoint $66.78 Maximum $83.16

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Minimum three (3) years of experience with Cisco routers and switches, high availability design, wireless technology, cabling systems, firewalls, UPS power systems, and SNMP.

Preferred: Five (5) years experience with Cisco routers and switches, high availability design, wireless technology, cabling systems, firewalls, UPS power systems, and SNMP.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree or additional four (4) years of equivalent experience in lieu of education.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.

Training

Required: Network design, routers and switches. Cisco routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls and wireless access points, IDS, CiscoWorks, WLSE and High Availability redundant designing.

Specialized Skills

Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong project implementation and troubleshooting skills. Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies. Ability to work independently; manage multiple assignments; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  

Licensure

Required: None required.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Sedentary - Very light energy level Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry 15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart.
