Job Summary

The Lead Financial Analyst, FP&A (STAT) position is responsible for the ownership and execution of leading scalable FP&A forecasts & analysis to deliver an integrated, full service performance cycle to public company standards. This position will be pivotal to the success of FP&A through its active partnership across the finance and actuarial departments.

This position reports to the Director, FP&A.  This position will interact with multiple teams throughout the company, including but not limited to financial reporting, actuarial, investments, reinsurance and capital.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute on scalable financial forecasts & analysis
  • Provide informal leadership to others on the FP&A team (train, coach and mentor staff)
  • Assist leadership with work direction, team assignments, prioritization, and delegation
  • Provide robust financial forecasting, financial analysis and ad hoc support; synthesize complex concepts to create analysis & explanations that are clear, concise and credible
  • Prepare reporting packages that include high quality, timely and accurate variance analysis, forecasts and results messaging
  • Harness technology to drive automation and efficiencies
  • Develop production and distribution of FP&A forecasts and analysis, considering material nonpublic information (MNPI) requirements
  • Collaborate with others to instill deeper understanding of FP&A team function and requirements across F&G
  • Support culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a liaison with other Finance teams to ensure a holistic and consistent delivery model and lead FP&A deliverables for the following:
    • Financial Reporting to align reporting cycle schedules, deliverables and dependencies
    • Audit requests
    • Tax team deliverables for provisioning and projections
    • Capital & Ratings Management team deliverables for rating agency
    • Regulatory forecasts and rating agency forecasts

Experience and Education Requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum 5 years experience in related field
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • CPA, CFA or MBA desirable
  • Knowledge of annuity and life insurance products preferred
  • Experience with projections, general ledgers, databases and report writing is desired

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of current processes and overall workflow and ability to train others
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements, internal control enhancements, automation and efficiencies
  • Robust expertise in financial systems for functional area
  • Strong critical thinker including analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial information and trends
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks, prioritize, and begin delegating in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to brainstorm, research and provide possible solutions to ad hoc questions from the functional area’s business partners
  • Ability to identify and anticipate future issues using knowledge and experience to recommend solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization and interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • A passion for new challenges, leadership and delivering results
  • Experience playing a lead role in team projects or deliveries
  • Self-directed individual who works well with team
  • Support a culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement

  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Some travel may be required (less than 10%)
