Position Summary
The Director, Reputation Management is charged with building WashU Olin’s brand and reputation as a premier business school through integrated marketing communications (IMC). In this role, the Director will work closely with the school’s dean, senior leadership team and faculty on integrated marketing communications to advance the school’s mission, goals and strategic priorities and elevate visibility for faculty research and thought leadership among external audiences and the Olin community. Essential to the success of this role is a positive, collaborative working relationship with other key university partners, including university marketing and communication and the office of the provost. The person who assumes this role must be a strategist and a doer, someone who can provide high-level strategic direction, collaborate extensively within and across teams, and execute seamlessly.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop an integrated marketing communications strategy with measurable objectives to advance Olin’s reputation as a premier business school and elevate visibility for faculty research and thought leadership among a multi-stakeholder audience.
- In close partnership with faculty, create discrete strategies and plans for high-priority areas that Olin seeks to be known for (i.e. health).
- Partner with the dean to position him as a thought leader through the development of compelling platforms and messaging and a 360-degree approach to content amplification through face-to-face and online channels.
- Establish metrics framework, including dashboards for ongoing tracking and reporting, that directly align with WashU Olin’s strategic priorities.
- Manage the Reputation Management budget to optimize return on investment across various marketing communications channels.
- Shape WashU Olin’s umbrella narrative. Ensure a compelling Olin story is consistently and effectively told across channels, driving specific perception and/or behavior changes among target audiences.
- Lead Olin’s multimedia content strategy and proactive editorial calendar for enterprise and thought leadership topics across channels including owned (website, Olin News, Olin magazine, stakeholder newsletters, large scale stakeholder events, leadership communications etc.), earned (national and business media, rankings) and social media. Experiment with various narrative formats.
- Partner with key university stakeholders, especially university marketing and communications and the office of the provost, in service of shared goals and opportunities.
- Effectively collaborate and promote a positive working relationship with stakeholders across the university.
- Manage and oversee all day-to-day integrated marketing communications activities for the Reputation Management team to drive measurable impact.
- Work closely with the Program Marketing team to leverage Olin thought leadership and enterprise storytelling to drive applications and enrollments.
- Manage relationships with relevant agencies and/or contractors.
- Recruit, select, develop, and coach, reward and retain, and optimize talent.
- Provide guidance and direction to staff with emphasis on establishing and maintaining a high-performing work environment and results-driven culture.
- Foster effective methods of communication, empowerment, and collaboration within and across teams.
- Drive development of the team to stay abreast of changing technologies and channels in the higher education and overall marketing communications industry.

Salary Range
$84,200.00 - $148,500.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
