The Dow Chemical Company presents an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join us as a TS&D (Technical Service & Development) Specialist based in Jincheon. As a member of the Dow Performance Silicone team within the Consumer Solutions R&D organization, the TS&D Scientist offers technical support and application process engineering expertise to promote advanced silicone-based specialty product solutions in targeted markets and applications such as Pressure sensitive adhesive, release coating. The primary focus of the TS&D role is technical issue resolution and assisting customers in utilizing Dow's innovative product solutions by providing application expertise. The incumbent works closely with commercial team to explore new business opportunity and contribute to delivering innovative technical solution/product with scientific approach that would help customer success and sustainable growth aligning with business strategy. The position requires intimate knowledge of customer requirements and ability to match them to fundamental properties that our products can offer.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the highest standards of safety and integrity both within and outside Dow.
  • Provide technical support and engineering expertise to promote existing and new silicone-based products for Pressure Sensitive Industry (PSA, Release coating)
  • Understand Electronics & Paper/Film/Tape market trends and contribute to build robust innovation portfolio for development of advanced PSA and release coating technology.
  • Validate the effectiveness of new products through rigorous laboratory testing and large-scale trials with customers, employing industry-standard or customer-specific end-use test methods.
  • Successfully drive the commercialization of new products through application expertise and technical support.
  • Identify and address customers' unmet needs and critical requirements by fostering collaboration with internal R&D and commercial teams, delivering tailored material and application solutions.
  • Align with business strategy to develop and fortify a robust commercialization portfolio.
  • Cultivate a pipeline of long-term growth opportunities by developing new applications and technical strategies for targeted markets.
  • Conduct and oversee laboratory experiments to develop innovative application solutions, customized offerings, and new product commercialization, as well as establish new testing capabilities.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to engage external customers and translate market needs into product specifications and concepts.
  • Document technical reports, product datasheets, papers, and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the literature and patents.
  • Safeguard intellectual property rights.

Desired Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor, Master degree or Ph.D with majors in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Material Science
  • Technical Experience: >3~5yrs working experience in Electronics/PSI/Tape/Film/Paper industry as product development, application & technical service or material engineer
  • Application knowledge in Pressure sensitive industry, Coating, Film/Tape application in electronics, basic of display and semiconductor.
  • Product/chemistry knowledge in silicone, organic (Acrylate, Urethane), fillers
  • Languages: Korean and English
  • Soft Skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good ability to learn new things 
  • Proven program/project management experience would be a plus
  • Strong initiative and self-management on priority management effectively
