This role focuses on developing and optimising ACCIONA Energy’s Australian portfolio of energy projects – operational and in development - through innovative offtake arrangements and hedges.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

Role Responsibilities

General Management and leadership

  • Participate actively in the development and delivery of the Company’s Strategic Power Plan.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with AEAG colleagues, market counterparties and counterparts in Spain (AE).

Portfolio Management

  • Key responsibility for negotiating and executing offtake arrangements, focused on Wholesale PPA’s and PPA’s in the C&I sector (ie. Corporate PPAs) and structured alternative hedging.
  • Lead origination of innovative offtake / hedging opportunities with wholesale participants to support the development and operational portfolio.
  • Work with the Director Power Marketing to develop appropriate market strategies.

Business Development

  • Work with the Development Team’s development and acquisition agenda by providing guidance on client/market needs, market conditions and prices to inform business case analysis and strategy more broadly.
  • Preparation and presentation of business cases considerate of market conditions, client profile and corporate strategy.

Relationship Management and Communication

  • Build and maintain relationships with key customer targets and market participants – both in the energy market and corporates more broadly
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders – in AEAG and AE.

Required Skills and Competencies

Required

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, economics, finance or engineering preferred.
  • Must have previous experience in the National Electricity Market, particularly in origination and PPA negotiations.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Strong skills in commercial negotiations.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate/manage teams.
  • High level skills of presentation and communication and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with counterparties and clients.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
     

Desirable

  • Experience in a similar role, operating at both a strategic level and at a tactical level.
  • Experience in energy sales to large / C&I customers.
  • Experience in environmental product markets.
  • Experience in risk management.
  • Post graduate qualifications.
  • Experience in working across cultures.
